Hi
Does the ohv cover on the predator engine needed to be torqued to a certain lb? I recently removed the cover and then put it back on but did not think it need to be tourqed.

Thanks
Isaac

Its not necessary to torque it, just tighten it with a normal wrench. Just make sure the gasket seals properly and you should be good to go.

Too be honest...they don't...AFAIK...Unless they also torque the head down. I don't use torque specs on anything except head bolts or rotating assembly.

Torque specs are available for any sized and grade bolt. Some people don't have the feel....so it's a good idea to use those figures to get the bolts to get snug enough without breaking ....

But that's the short answer...to be honest again...I've completely rebuilt dozens of small engines without a torque wrench....but I can feel bolt stretch and after thousands of bolts...you get a pretty good idea of what each bolt needs...

I would never do that on an automotive engine though, but I don't torque valve covers or anything external except the intake manifold.
