Howdy folks! New to this forum, and to go karts! (Have owned several dirt bikes that I rebuilt though). My main question is this: does anyone know a good sport to ride off-road go karts in the Kansas city area? Thanks!

Welcome to the site. Not sure if any regulars I recall are from KC, but if so, one will chime in. Here in Michigan, it needs an ORV sticker and needs to pass an inspection to ride ORV trails, State Land, parks and such.

Where do you ride dirt bikes? I understand some ATV or dirt bike parks are prejudiced against go karts, but that’s where I’d start. Otherwise get on Gewgle Maps, select satellite view and scroll around for wide open and abandoned places. My ex had a “failed subdivision” behind her place and it had a network of weed choked paved streets, curbs, fire hydrants but no houses. Behind it were some trails along the RR.

This place 27°55'16.9"N 80°42'44.5”W reminds me of it, looks delightful but I understand there’s been some bodies found in the vicinity, but that just adds to the appeal, right? 😬

Or just go outlaw:

Remember, it is much easier to apologize than to ask for (and get) permission.

Well, I haven’t done much riding, mostly just rebuilding older bikes (1981 yz60, 1985 xr80, and currently a 1983 sp100)

But I know of a spot next to the Kansas river where I see dirt bikers often. It’s not on the maps as an atv/dirt bike spot, but I know it;s public and that there’s trails.

I’m sure most of us would be thrilled to see what you’ve done with your motorcycle refurbs. Even though it’s “off topic” we’re a two-wheel (minibike) and small single cylinder engine forum.

What kind of kart did you get?
I'll be happy to post pics of my bikes soon! (my profile pic is of the xr80r I restored)
I haven't gotten a kart yet, I first wanted to make sure I could thrash it around without getting in trouble 😂. But I'm looking at getting a tomberlin crossfire 150r (maybe a cb250 engine swap sometime 🤓)

Oh, BTW. Does anyone know what the tallest recommended height is for the crossfire 150? I'm 6'2", and am wondering if I'll even fit...

Absolutely. One of the few things *along with karts* on which you can wrench, ride, break and repeat, feasibly, and without a ton of money.

Does anyone know what the tallest recommended height is for the crossfire 150?

Doesn’t matter (don’t be that 600lbs guy though), just get on it and ride. They were never designed for toddlers ...until much later
That’s Kurt Cobain on an American Express. He was probably 5’9” but he is assuming the correct cramped posture.
