Nut Splitter Fun

I got myself a set of nut splitters a few weeks back and decided to test them out today. We got out the impact driver and set up two pieces of steel on a bolt and tightened them together as much as the 18v could go. We ended up breaking the threads on the bolt and it would not come off so it was time for the nut splitter.

I never used a nut splitter before and was not sure of what they can withstand. It takes a 22 (metric) spanner to tighten. Tightened it and it started to grasp the nut. It cut through it easily. The nut came off in a right state:biggrin5: :

There a handy piece of equipment to have.

Anyone else on here ever use them?

Looks pretty useful, I use this kind. http://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Pneum...ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1264953530&sr=8-1 Very dangerous tool, can rattle your hand apart if you slip off at full throttle.

I also use a high speed cutoff wheel that is CP, not sure on the model.

Yea there handy to have. not that exact though, you would need to be careful splitting the nut to not go too far

Have you ever used a high end air chisel? You can go down 30-60 beats per minute no problem.

No never did get one. Are they a good buy?

A good air chisel is very useful, you can use a hammer bit and hammer anything to death and back, you can zip through sheet metal, chisel all sorts of stuff, turn rounded off bolts and nuts, list goes on.
