Number 37 ('68 M715 Monster Fire Truck)

Thought ya'll might like to see one of my other (many) projects...

in a slow gathering parts stage currently.

#37 will be comprised of the body of a 1968 Jeep Kaiser M715 that was reissued to the East Providence (RI) Fire Department as their brush truck.
I've contacted the Chief at the fire dept and got a pic or two of it from the old days and will post up here once I find them again.

Plans include:
468ci BBC, Barry Grant 880, Roller Rockers, Al intake, Hooker SuperComp headers, cam etc
T400, NP205 (married) to NP200 (divorced)
2.5t Rockwells, M35A3 beadlocks, Goodyear 16.00x20 (53's), pinion brakes, hydro steering, hydro assist brakes, bomb resistant seats from MRAP w/5pt harness', updated gauges, AC/Heat, rear mounted radiator (from CUCV)
4 link f/r, coils and shocks to start with, but coilovers eventually.

Fowler, I completely understand (coming from collectible VW/BMW/ETC), but this one is way (w a y) too gone.

I've already sold the motor/trans for $100 to a collector, as well as the other bits that I won't be using to help him finish his project, and the entire rest of everything that isn't painted red is almost rusted thru and thru. The underside is in ROTTEN shape since it was a plow truck in Rhode Island and saw lots of salt.

I really like it. I love the soft top as well. I also just got some old pics of my old race Odyssey. It is cool to see your ride in it's glory days. I have not seen the pics yet though. Also have a vid of it racing in a national championship.

I would love to see the old pics of this truck.

turbo 400 into NP205 into NP200 into 6.72 gears in the 2.5t rockwells...

torque is torque, and flame throwers are a lot easier on gas motors than riggin propane injection throwers on an oil burner

WOW! That's going to be one he//uva serious crawl ratio! Good to see you employing the T-case doubling of 205 into 200. Bombproof combination!

Will you be pinion-braking the rockwells, or have you got something else in mind?

planning on pinions for now, then going to 4 wheel disc's later as I can afford to upgrade

is it 12v or 24v (and do you know if you can convert it to 12v)?
I'd need a 12volt one.

IMHO I'd not "restore" it if you are going to sell it. You may destroy some value. Let the buyer do as they want with it.

Get w/me and maybe we can work something out.

i guess so. i joined this siren forum and im waiting for membership approval (its been like 2 weeks?) and then ill ask them how much they think its worth.

had to scrape the white spray paint off the badge to write the #'s down.

its 110 volts, so youd need an inverter (is that what theyre called?)

get rid of the military tires , you'll be very disapointed with them . they don't clean out at all and are super heavy. get a set of 18.4x26 r2's ( about 55" tall). that is what i am going to run on my 79 ford stepside on 2.5 tons, same plans..... 4 link , dual tcases, rear mounted bbf though and rear steer.
