has anyone else tried to wipe thier facebook completely clean??

god that took forever... I now have no facebook account...

used a firefox addon to rip all my pics, then went and deleted all teh albums, then went and manualy removed all tags for me.. (Was a firefox addon to do that as well, but it didnt work for me.. *Sighs*

then i went and set all the privacies to "Custom ---> only me" for everything, to hide all my posts and comments etc etc etc...

tuned off all notifications, removed my cell number...

then deleted/removed every friend (Once again manualy.. 400+ friends takes a bit of time.. *Sighs*)

then changed my name to something stupid, then FINALY deactivated my account...

in retrospect.. i shoulda made a new hotmail account or something and changed my facebook to point to it instead first.. lol

stupid thing is. the account is still technically there.. lol just de-activated.. ugh..

that was fun.. haha.. but hell took like 4-5 hours!!!

facebook can go get bent around a tree at 500mph!!

You can just erase your profile.

how??? i couldnt figure out a way.. lol.. must notta looked in the right places.. lol best i found was the de-activate.. lol

Bluethunder3320 why did you do that? gettin a job? lol

I've had the smae job for over 3 yrs now.. automotive tech.. (Well, apprentice anyways.. lol)

cuz i was sick of all the crap n crud on it..

my grandpa had 17 brothers/sisters..

my mother there was 11 children.. <--- all of em drama queens etc...

plus ppl from work mixing too much into my personal life n vice versa..

it was consuming too much time for nothing, and i was sick of all the grief and drama and stress brought about by the frivelant lack of sensibility too easily achieved by hiding behind a screen...

you wana talk shoot the shhh!t and visit, then grab a case of beer and stop by, or invite me over for a bbq or poker..

i dont wana hear from your friend 10 times removed that im a bad influence for something stupid i did such as say I love beer and women because its below thier high standards and morals.. (As a lame example)
like seriously, go troll the niegbourhood for stalkers and child molestors and car thieves instead of hiding behind your monitor in your false bravery and bashing ppl for speaking thier mind and morals.. for better or for worse, in THIER false sense of security...

at least on the forums they're moderated etc.. and theres usualy at least a common ground and interests, and goals.. and learning things.. theres a real purpose behind the madness...

with FB its like aimless.. stupifying..

sure theres a false sense of security on the forums as well... but here theres real rules.. and they get enforced.

Like i told my own mother the other night. you dont like what i have to say and the way i say it, or more to the point worried about what her co-workers thought from what they seen from being her friends.. there's privacy options, etc.. and people that choose to be my friends can deal with and accept what i think and say.. im not gona be all fake and such, coat a pile of manure with honey and pretend it tastes great...

people dont have to be my friends.. they can accept who i am or not.. if not, then you're not likely not my type or a much of a friend.. you can always remove me...

and then i realized this was my own mother i was talking too..

how pathetic was that?

when it comes down to it, my mother doesnt even find me as a worthy friend on facebook... that aint right.. we were always good friends...

I decided then and there that facebook jsut wasnt for me anymore.. wasnt the type of anarchy i signed up for...

I removed all my crap of it, pics etc cuz as you may or may not know, soon as you put something up on facebook, they own it.. they have full rights and access to it, and to use it how they see fit.. every lil nanoscrap of datum you place...

kinda like microsoft.. when you click that little "I Agree" button... you have just virtualy given them permission to come in, ransack your house, take whatever they want and you have no legal actions left to you..

seriously.. when you look at it that way, microsoft owns every household in the world with a copy of windows.. 3.1 (or 95??) onwads, im not quite cetain.. but yeah..

microsoft owns the world...

both micrap and crackbook can go get bent in a concrete wall at 500km/hr...:horse::horse::horse::horse:

I believe deactivate removes you from the searchable database yet stores your info to be restored at a later date of you wish.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm from a big family, too. I got on facebook in 2009 and caught up with all the people I went to school with as a kid. I realized that I still don't like them much. When my family started getting on facebook I canceled my account.

I've been on the internet since 1995, and if there's one thing I've learned it's that online chat will always turn ugly sooner or later. I got out before the family problems had a chance to get started.

I figured out why I don't like facebook. When you're in the real world you behave in different ways depending on who is around you. Your wife, your kids, your friends, your co-workers, your parents, your in-laws, are all treated differently. It's not that you're being a hypocrite. This is the way it has always been and there's nothing wrong with it. When men hang around together they will say things to each other that they may not say in front of their small children or their boss. And you might talk to your wife about things you wouldn't say to your school friends. No problem. But on facebook, you have a huge, mixed audience. It's just weird. It can cause huge problems when people get offended or get the wrong idea. A lot of people learn to censor themselves and say only things that are appropriate for their entire list of friends, which of course makes everything extremely boring.

My conclusion is that facebook is a total waste of time. It makes about as much sense as the beanie baby craze.

I enjoy it. I keep mine clean being that, well I don't want my entire life on there and I'm going into college soon and they check those, but numerous people I'm FB friends with (not actually friends, you know how "virtual friends" are) keep it interesting. One kid in my grade posted that he stole a car, there are many about drinking, it's never boring. I like the ability to keep in touch and share info with people I don't see often, yet I am one of those people that you would find to be boring. I just don't want every aspect of my life archived for EVERYONE to see. I'll have a profile and be semi-active, but you won't know where to find me every second of the day, what I do in my free time, and who I spend it with.

haha, yeah, you all summed it up pretty nicely :D

it was great for keeping tabs with everyone, re-aquainting with people from school, general banter from friends and fam far and wide..

but relay aside from a small handfull of people I actual do associate with, whoes numbers i have anyhow, i dont actualy see or hear from em, they're just there.. no real interaction or conersing.. meh.. just sad..

it sucks as i live hours away form everone and onl see most of m y family 2-4 times a year, and friends 1-4 times every year or 4 lol...

meh.. it is what it is...
