...but darn good to have. I've been beyond fortunate that all the fires my welders have started were put out by stamping them or simply covering the trash can to suffocate them. But with a lot of age comes a little wisdom and I figured I wouldn't miss the cash, especially should I need them so I pulled the trigger (ha ha) on 2 extinguishers, one for the interior of our home, one for the shop!

(pssst- who likes the "Redd's" citronella tiki torch for repelling mosquitoes?)

Good idea. Extinguishers are an essential around the house, especially in the kitchen where oil fires may start

Ummmm.....definitely a good idea....but not necessarily essential...baking soda or a tight fitting lit can extinguish a grease fire....

But.....while we're on the subject....there's more useless fire extinguishers out there than operable ones.....and here's why.....

You can tell a man the moon is 367,000 miles away
..(or whatever....) and he'll believe you.....tell a man that the paint is wet....and he'll stick his finger in it.....

Now....home fire extinguishers have a gauge....that shows they are charged.....but your common ordinary "genius"....will "test" the fire extinguisher.....now....it will slowly leak out all it's pressure....and when needed....be worthless....THEY ARE ONE TIME USE DEVICES!

JUST saying folks.....if you don't trust it....buy a backup...if you've "tested" yours....check the guage....and it will fail your second "test"....

I agree that you can use baking soda, and even comon flour to extinguish a fire, but having a fire extinguisher in range is easier than going through your cupboards to try fing that small packet of baking soda :D
