Title's true, not much to say about me other than I'm in south east NM near the west spike of Texas.
Before November starts, I am trying to make as cheap as possible of a cart from a 148cc 4.5hp lawn mower picked up from the curb for rear wheel drive, Paired with a random 2 stroke weed eater a friend got for free from "a shed of trash" (as the landlord called it) at his house, for front wheel drive.

First things first is finding the right category to start posting in, second things also first is fixing or replacing the weed whacker's gas tank lol

Kinda don't wanna pull off a 90 degree twisted belt since we can't mount stuff that accurately, maybe a 45 to 45 twin belt since that's a slight bit more wiggle room as far as stressing the belt.

Keep searching for a cheap horizontal shaft engine and just repair the mower and get it back to mowing!

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are taking on a lot of complicated misery. Lots of easier ways to build a kart. Neither of those two engines are good candidates. Sorry to be a bummer.

free is better than paid, especially since I need literally every penny of a loan just to get an RV and escape the town that has for 23 years slowly drove me insane.

the only repairs I can do are "literally free" repairs, like replacing the absolutely DESTROYED foam air filter with a cut open Mountain Dew bottle turned into a paper filter, or using twine to add manual choke control to the governor +carb

Anyways, one reason for wanting to have the weed whacker as front wheel drive, is that it could be removed and the gear or pulley or whatever replaced with its original line holding mechanism, so only the 148cc Briggs and Stratton mower engine would be a permanent mount.
