Hi guys...

I have been introduced by the site after allot of "googling"... I'm from South Africa in Pretoria! I see Landuse is a local!

I have been shoved here as I plan to build a cart small enough for my 3 years old to drive around the yard!

Hope to learn a bit here...

Cheers1

Hey...Welcome to the forum!!! Have you got any ideas on what you are going to build? Have you already got an engine, or what are you thinking of using?

Let me know if there is anything 'local' you might need to know

Hi Landuse...

:auto: No... I am starting off with researching! I'm planning a very uncomplicated build... ground clearance... as it will be driven on the lawn most of the time. I do not have any material yet!

My biggest issue is that everything done will have to be done in duplicate... or I will have to build a two seater! Pref 2x! As my boys are ages 4 and 2... well 5 and 3 by end of the year! Both boys are small 15 kg's... thus a very small kart!

Every DIY project that I have tackled before has been largely affected by the materials that I have been able to source... Any help would be appreciated... For now I will research some more!

Clutches are generally difficult to find here in SA. You can import for cheaper than you can buy here. If you do want to buy locally, I know of 2 places Checkmate Products in Brits, and GroGro.

Steel you can get easily. Chain, sprockets and bearings can be gotten from places like BMG (Bearing man group), tyres and wheels from quads or ride on mowers. etc...

Thx Landuse...

The way I see it... this won't be the last cart(s) I build... and the boys will quickly grow out of them! But If I get proper engines now and rather restrict them I will not be engine hunting again soon!

But this thread needs to move to a different section from here... I love to hear of some more advise Landuse!

Start a new thread over in the discussion section and we can continue. The only way you will be able to limit the engines without long term harm will be through gearing
