For a update

Got the rear off and sprocket situated and rear remounted

Had to adjust the steering spacers to raise the steering wheel up.

Got the shifter semi mounted and all figured out.

Got the clutch handle ruffed in.

I Know where I need to put the motor

But did come up with a possible problem. I may not be able to run the stock exhaust and will have to completely reconstruct it for my size .. I'm 6'4" so space is limited without stretching the frame.

Sourced a sprocket from pbi-sprockets and now I wait for it, along with a gas tank, pulse fuel pump, and seat.

I hate waiting for parts but I've been buying them in karting area's compared to my local shop because I get better deals .

My shop wanted 100 for a plastic seat. I got a carpeted fiberglass seat for 75 shipped. Was a no brainer there..

The gas tank the wanted 50 for a 2qt, for 35 shipped I got a 4qt

Awesome build! Started one myself a few months ago. Rm125 in a MBA shifter kart frame. Finally got my parts in the mail last week. (Fuel pump, tie rod etc) so starting to reassemble everything. Could you tell me the dimensions of your engine mount? I plan on doing something similar to yours.

Looking forward to seeing this build completed. Take a look at my build log if you get the chance!

Olyptorius : not sure if my motor is same specs as yours.. So my measurements may not work for you.. But the idea is the same.. Just make sure to make more measurements then cuts and you shall be fine..

Thanks for the tip! I'm just not sure if i should have my engine upright or on an angle.. which is why i was wondering if your rear mount was the same height as your front mount or if the front is a tad smaller so that the engine sits more forward (tilted), keeping in mind that the engine is still square with your rear axle.

My engine has 3 degrees off Angle to it. I measured with a pinion angle finder on the dirtbike frame and adjusted my mount accordingly to the lever of the frame when mounted because I couldn't find the information I was looking for.. Just thought it would be easier to do it the way kawasaki did it..

Well with my 428 sprocket finally in. Got that mounted, and motor mount mounted and kept going with it and mounted the motor, and chain

Also figured out my shifter spacing with a water bottle.

But got a important call and went and picked this up. . Craigslist find but came with some extra parts and and was a 250cc shifter kart before.. Just need a motor and mount and some bolts to secure some stuff.

I'm getting all the little bits and pieces ready for welding.

Got the shifter tabs to hold it in place, the steering stem mount for the clutch handle. And then I got to figure out exhaust and shift rod from handle to shifter mounted on the motor.

After getting the right seat, I'm gonna revise the motor mount by welding a flat plate of steel on the bottom to relieve alittle worry I have about motor moving, and it should give my leg alittle more room with the slight adjustment of mount.

I've been reading up on how to quiet the 2 stroke down, I scored a stock Honda ruckus straight flow exhaust that I'm gonna run with or without baffle depending on how it runs.. I'm also gonna exhaust wrap the whole exhaust. Especially the expansion chamber.

The ruckus exhaust will be mounted on the rear bumper support (or what ever its called)

It's coming together just wish I had all the tools I needed in one location..

Started dismantaling some of the kart. Gotta weld shifter and clutch tabs in place so I had to move the steering out of the way.

Thinking about re centering the axle and setting width of rear to where I want it..

Gonna also paint the frame and everything else.. Trying to revive its life, so I can't leave it the way it is..

I can't wait to ride this thing.

Gotta make clutch handle stop. So it's still in reach when at its rest position.

Clearance is tight, but comfortable to me. I'm 6'4" 250 so the seat ain't right on the steering supports so I need extra seat supports

The shift linkage is easier to make then mounting the seat. Smh

Once the seat is fully mounted I gotta get the radiator mounted and then work on throttle...

Exhaust bends are on the way from bmi so I gotta wait for that to come in..

Until next time I'm trolling other threads... :wai:

Got the exhaust completed and shift linkage working smoothly. Trying not to jump from one thing to the next so fast that I miss something..

Slow and steady wins the build!

Some pics to help the thread.

The exhaust also comes off in one piece fairly easy with removing the 2 straps from the muffler and the 2 springs from the motor.

Is that flex pipe between your chamber and muffler, or solid tubing?
If thats solid tubing, how can your muffler move forward when you need to adjust your chain tension?

If you ever plan on riding/racing with other karts, I'd consider relocating that muffler to the front of the bumper too.
