Hi all, I'm a noob and just got my first kart for the kids. I don't know the year or maker, but it needs a little work. It is a 2 seater with a Tecumseh marked ohh50 that is missing the air cleaner, and fuel pours out if the carb through this intake. I'm thinking it will be easier to put a predator from HF on it than it would be to repair. It also needs a new brake band. Any advice is welcome.

Well...you can take the complete OHH50-???? number and research that # and carburetor through Google......get a part# for a replacement carb....

Shop Amazon and get a replacement for about $20....

Do a little research on rebuilding those carbs....and tinker with the old one a bit....and possibly get it going for almost nothing.....

It's most likely either the idle pilot jet....or a stuck needle/seat/float.....the pilot jet may be as easy as seating it with a screwdriver....

I'm not a Tecumseh fan....but $20 for a good running engine and just a little effort..is worth a shot.....

Welcome to the forum! !!

Im not real worried about the carb, I saw a bunch on ebay for next to nothing. Its the missing air cleaner that makes me lean toward just replacing the motor. I definitely need a new brake band, theres no brake material left on the old one. Its metal on metal!
