Noob guy from Canada, Eh?

Hey everyone. My name is Kolyn (Colin). I am a 40 year old father of two boys 9&6. I live cars and would love a project but have limited funds and like everyone limited money. So a couple of years ago I acquired a go kart chassis that I thought would make a good cheap project for me and the boys. It turns out it is a 1970 Magay kart. So do I restore it or use it as a base? After some research I realised it is pretty butured so it will just be a base for a DIY custom kart. I live I Maple Ridge BC Canada and am looking forward to this project.

No, I'm not picking on you if you have trouble spelling, just trying to make sure we're on the same page...

Depending on how bad it is, it may very well be usable; as landuse suggested, post some pics & we'll go from there...

Thanks. Yes even with today's technology a spelling error does get through and sometimes I really don't feel like fixing it. But yes I did mean butchered. I will try and get some pictures up soon.

I think it was desinged for dual engines.

What do you mean by salvage? Scrap it? I am really thinking I am better off just starting from scratch. And saving those cool tanks to decorate my garage.

No....that would be ditch it....he means keep it and salvage ...(as in salvation) ...it from the scrap yard....

Hey where are you located and what would the tanks be worth? As I am thinking I would be better off just grabbing some steel and slapping together a very basic kart.

I have no idea what they're worth, just thought they looked really cool lol. And Colorado(my location is on the right hand side of my name if you're on the webpage btw)


Just had a thought. What if those weren't fuel tanks but instead water weight tanks for managing the weight class of a kart. Like to qualify you need a certain weight so if you come in light you add water to the tanks until you can qualify....hmmmm
