Hey everyone,
Ive never built a go kart before but I am going to try. I want to build my first kart completely from scratch just because it seems cool. I plan on making a small shifter kart style frame with just a 6.5hp engine for now. I wont be able to begin the actual progress until after Christmas when I get my welder. In the mean time I will be planning it out.

Welcome to the forum, there's a ton of info here. If you've never welded before, I would suggest that you don't build your own frame right away. You'll need some practice before you trust your @ss to your work. One option for you is buy a used frame and repair/modify to suit you. Or just get a bunch of scrap steel and practice your brains out before building. Do a bunch of test joints in various materials and orientations, and then proceed to beat the wee out of them with a BFH to see how they went.

Actually yes it would be my first time welding something big like this. Ive done little spot welds before but that hardly counts. Im looking at just getting a little flux welder for now because they say those are the easiest to start on.
