see the scheme Doug?

everything that needs to be easy to replace or is moveable is bolted not welded.
A welded pedal wouldn't move and a welded clutch cannot be replaced (easily)..
proper rollcages are welded the rest is considered being "brush guard" mostly ...
anyways...

possible, but unfeasible to bolt a kart chassis.
(wasn't the handsome's kart that Robert posted a while ago bolted as well?)

To add to all of this, none of the parts you listed (including the bolt-on cages) are load-bearing members of the kart's integral structure.

I would like to agree.. but seeing some of "typical american body weights"
I wouldn't say a seat (and it's structure) isn't bearing a LOAD :lolgoku:

There is no such thing as a non load bearing surface on a moving vehicle....however slight that load may be.....kinda why ball bearings make bad cup holders....(get my drift?)

It's not so much that we disagree...just to the extent you want to exaggerate the problems and forces involved.....

I wouldn't ever build a bolt together because I now have a welder....but I have spent too many years without one and HAD to bolt stuff together....

My lumber rack on my Toyota is a good example....it's been doing just fine for 10 years....and has seen loads, forces, and hours that few gokarts will ever see...and I took no special precautions in its build.....

The operative words in my post were "integral structure."

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying it's completely ridiculous and far more difficult than you believe it to be.

And that is exactly where we disagree.....not that is difficult....but that it is completely ridiculous.....welding is faster, cheaper, and easier....but bolting is not ridiculous....just impractical.....

WAIT!!!!! IIRC....I saw a picture of a German guy in a DIY t-shirt.....and he looked more like Shultz than Klink......:lolgoku:

Okay Doug.. compared to you that's true..
I'm Jake, you're Elwood..
More precise, I'm Tarzan, you're Jane :roflol:

but I've seen more than one DIYGK member that easily has 100lbs more to lift out of bed ;)

Anyways...

impractical... I think that's the consence here ;)
