kill switch is set to "off"? check the easy stuff first :)

if there are any wires coming out of the coil, make sure they arent touching anything that is grounded to the engine.

Make sure the ceramic on the spark plug isn't cracked. If it is, it will not produce a spark...... Buy a new one.....

Equally speaking the air gap if set wrong will produce an insufficient spark.
More importantly what motor is this to speak of?

The fly wheel pick up and the electrode thing are pretty rusty so I'm going to try to clean those to see if that helps and I now have a kill switch

That could well be the problem but, if you still have trouble after you clean them (with a wire wheel or fine sandpaper only), disconnect the black wire from the coil...
