Go kart done for the most part however, found out about an hour ago its illegal to ride miniature motorized vehicles in the city limits of Denver, CO.

Does anyone have any information on where one can go and enjoy riding this thing?

Any privately owned property outside of city limits. Inside city limits? What? They mean on streets and sidewalks, right? So you guys have no go kart track where you pay to ride a kart for several minutes at a time? Something sounds fishy. I don't think they can ban go karts ENTIRELY in city limits. Can they?
No you can't ride them on any street, in any city. It's simply illegal. But in your own yard? Illegal? How the :censored: is this possible? (other than you live in a very nice hood with a strict hoa )

Yea thet mean on.tbe roads

Or maybe inside the cbd
Like the real inner city where the skyscrapers are and stuff

Quite a few people ride in bushland or in empty car parks

Riding on someone elses land is illegal too

But if u ask them nicely they may allow it

Used to ride near rivers since there are few people to complain. Also road in parking lots of stores that were out of business and were on some very traveled roads. Most go karts are not allowed on city streets because they have no lights or indicators for starters. But a piece of private property is different unless the owner does not want you there.

If you were in NW Iowa, I'd welcome you here - 6 acres. So, the best suggestion I have is to find other karters in your area, and where they ride. Might have to talk with several, but I bet at least one will have a solution. No doubt they all faced the same dilemma somewhere along the line.

I got your best advice, straight from a cop..... He said, find a local cop and tell him your dilemma. Ask him if there is any place he can suggest that y'all can ride, where it is most likely you will be "over looked" by them. In other words, ask him where you can safely ride with the least likely chance of having them called on you and your son. Open the "tear jerker" tap.....

"O, I'm just trying to keep my kids out of trouble. Just teaching him right from wrong. Responsibility, that type thing. Trying to make sure you guys never have to deal with him acting up. Staying out of trouble. We built the kart together. Now I gotta find a place where he can get the reward from his hard work. Do you know a place where I can take him , locally, to ride it with out bothering anyone with the noise. That's part of the respect aspect I'm teaching him. We got to respect others rights to peace and quiet. So do you think you know a place where we might be over looked? "........ :wai:

I asked afew officers/lawyers the same question bout a year ago. I cant remember all the 'excuses'(lol) they gave... but here's afew I do remember... their reply(s) were as follows;

Q.- Why can I not drive my kart on "public" roads?
A.- 1. Cant tax em.
2. Too low(cant be seen from most rear view mirrors... bumpers dont lineup w/ real vehicle height).
3. "In alotta cases..." karts are not 'road worthy/safe'... no lights/directional's/brake lights.
4. "Most" cannot stay w/ the flow of traffic(not fast enough).
Q.- Where 'CAN' I drive my kart?
A.- ANY privately owned land/structure(not in a zone, limiting noise)... w/ consent from the owner.

Some of the examples that were given were off the wall, where to ride...
1. Churches
2. Parking lots(unused/untraveled)
3. Farm land
4. Industrial complexes
... there were afew others(just cant remember now...).

The instructions from each were, ask the responsible party(s)(land owner/manager) for written consent to lawfully, ride on their property.

One suggestion was put an ad on CList for riders and locations. They also recommended Googling in my area the words "atv park".

Found a solution to No Ride Rules

Thank you all so much for the advice, we were out pretty much all day with the go kart. We took the Go Kart to a local school and soon we had a police officer come up on us. We told him this was a project we worked on together and mentioned to him that we did this to keep my son occupied and out of trouble.

The officer was very understanding and asked my son how he enjoyed the project, my son told him he loved it and it has really been keeping him busy. My son has a history with the DPD and the officer knew him and told him good job on the go kart and be safe.

That was it the officer was pretty cool about everything!!!!!!!
