Hey guys I have a 2015 mudhead 208r. It's totally stock besides running a platinum plug over the copper original. I was never really happy with its performance as far as too speed or torque. I I'm going to purchase a predator 212cc for next week. I was told that would be the next step up with nice performance. Any tips or walk -thrus on the engine swap. I will post pics as I progress.

I believe you find it all to be rather self explanatory as you get into it.
Each swap poses some of its own unique challenges, so I doubt you will find any exact step by step how to.

Just wondering what about the back shaft chain and cvt transmission. Will they got still? Or should I order a torq-a-verter kit. I'm just trying to have everything I need when I tear it down.

Hold up, you're talking about swapping a 208cc engine for a 212cc engine, that's not moving forward or backwards, it's moving sideways which, IMO, would be a pointless waste of time & money; its like swapping an orange for an orange; if you're not happy with the orange GET AN APPLE or make orange juice!

What I mean is, swapping a 208cc for a 212cc will make no noticeable difference to performance; If you want to see a noticeable difference, mod the existing engine!

Not much more of an upgrade. At best a Hemi (60363) is 7hp, your current 208cc is somewhere around 6-6.5hp. Unless you want to go with a "big block" at 270cc and up with a 1" shaft, to get a better seat of the pants power up, change the rear sprocket to one that has more teeth. That usually does a bit more than an engine swap.

If you're looking for a lot of power, but want to stay in the current size, rip the stock airbox off, rejet the carburetor and get a freer flowing exhaust.

The 208 seems sluggish. Even straight out the box. I was told the predator had more power and the torque I wanted. Is this not true?

As Ozfab said, the engines are nearly identical. I think you probably have too much weight, and you're losing too much power through the drive-train (That FNR gearbox is probably eating more than it's fair share). The only advantage to the Predator 212 would be that it likely has more available upgrade parts to bump you up a few horsepower.

Here is his kart, with some nice pictures of the FNR gearbox. Personally, I think he should just trade me his cart for my YZ250f. That has all the power he needs and then some.
