Newbie in need of technical advice

I recently bought a manco model 386 -092
Equipped with a new predator 212 that kept burning clutches according to the precious owner, it apears to have been equipped with a torque converter set up at one point judging from the jack shaft housing on the motor mount plate. I want to return to a torque converter setup but didn't want to spend 200+ on a Tav2 not knowing if the chain will line up correctly. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Also what if any name goes with this model. Dingo, fox etc...

This is typical.....you think you have given enough information for a diagnosis. ....but really. ...to make an analogy. ...it's like calling up the doctor's office. ....describing the symptoms and expecting a diagnosis and treatment over the phone. ........

So.....it's kind of a broken record around here. .....but with good reason..............you could be burning up clutches because your back tires are too big or you are geared wrong. ......

The other thing is that you don't want to spend $200 on a Tav2.......but we have no idea Where you are. .....that might be a heck of a deal if you are in Pakistan. ........

So.....despite my ranting....we get this all the time.....Welcome to the forum and please fill out your profile so we know where you are from. .....and post up some pics......we WILL help you. ....but we need just a little bit of help (info)....to do so......

.......BTW.....Yet another reason to post pics.....someone might be able to ID your kart by sight......but I can't find your model #.....

The closest I can come is.....386-192: Dingo 6, or 386-09: BTS.....

Most 386's are Dingo's....but like I said. ...the gurus here can spot them by sight. ....a picture is worth a thousand words. .....

here are the pics of model # and general setup
does have a dingo like face on the steering wheel hub
it currently has 19x7.5 r8 on rear and frt 145/70 r6 w/ 10t sprocket clutch assembly
the generic model 386 manual I found calls for a 9t sprocket with 22x11x11 rear tires and the frt are correct but had a 10t clutch sprocket it also shows a torque converter assembly but I cant be sure as it is just a generic manual

Itsid may come along and give you a positive ID.....meanwhile. ..you can go to gokartsrus.com and download manuals that will give you a pretty good idea what you have. ..based on the 386 prefix.....

Also.....it's a good site to know to get Manco parts. .....

Well you said you already have the original manual;
that's good so you basically have all you MUST know to find the parts you need;
And you do need a TC or a very different gear ratio
if you buy one try to get as close to the original setup as possible,
the predator has just 0.5HP more than the original 6HP tec engine had...
no need to assume you could get away with half the original gear ratio
(which is what you currently run)

As for the names.. the 092 does not appear on the lists I'm afraid;
but since it's the common way.. just call it a Dingo.
(nearly all 286 and 386 are referred to as 'Dingo', even if they are in fact a Fox Pro for example
the known names for a 386 are these:

386-12	PHOENIX BAJA
386-192	DINGO 6
386-271	FOX PRO I
386-50	RATTLER
386B-01	BTS
386B-02	DINGO 6 GL
386B-05	DINGO 6 XL
386B-09	BTS 6
386B-17	FOX PRO 6
386B-27	RATTLER LXT

as you can see: no 092 in there;
so if you don't have any decal left on your kart that states a name...
go with Dingo to be on the safe side

Wow!!!!!!!! I just went with the text. ....but just now clicked on the pic.....and it sure 'nuff says 386-092!!!!! Weird... .but then again. .....Manco just went nuts with model #'s and model names......it's no wonder one might fall through the cracks. ......sheesh.....I think they made more model number and names than karts!!!!!!!!

Mostly the names were just decals..
and the model numbers are only used to identify the decal set or sometimes frame colors and that's it.
on very few occasions there's a different part involved (wheels, sometimes seat covers)
with subsequent numbering.

Hey Battleboar, there is a LOT of info on here if you do a search for the Manco Dingo model. It's one of the more common produciton karts and has come up countless times. A member here, Blazkowiez, used to be the resident expert on Dingos and the sort. He owns/runs/family owns (I can't remember) a kart shop in Texas and like I said, the Dingos are pretty common, so he was very knowledgable about them.

Would I need to change the location of the axel sprocket if I installed the tav2. Or would it most likely line up correctly. Since the drive sprocket is located between the pulley and motor. I know a definite answer isn't really possible but I'd settle for an experienced guess
