Hello people, just wanted to introduce myself and hope to get some helpful info from you guys.

I recently picked up an Brister zx265s w/6.5hp tec. engine

after I picked it up I through on a straight header, a washable cone filter and removed the roll cage. I would like to get this thing moving a little bit faster so I'm open to any suggestion. looking at grabbing some street tires for it since I live in the city now so I can bum around my neighborhood. also I was offered a 750cc suzuki GSXR motor and was really think of putting it on the kart since i already have my motorcycle pretty well set-up but I have no clue how to.

ok got a couple question for you guys.
how do I scrap the governor on this motor or is there one?
any suggestion on changing from belt drive w/ torque convertor to chain drive? should I do it yes or no? will I get more speed?
and in general what can I do to make this thing faster?

BTW I know this is not a racing kart by any means nor is it the best kart out there but for the price I paid for this thing it was like getting it for free so I took it. The kids have a ball on it and that is what it was for.
anyways thanks for any help you can give me.

First of all keep the torque converter it will give you a higher speed
Check that the torque converter doesnt still have the limiter in it- its a washer in between where the belt sits on clutch side. not all torque converters have this but some do

The next thing to try is to change the gearing, not sure how these are set up so maybe a photo would help

as for the GSXR motor i think the bike engine would be a little over kill for this but i wouldnt stop ya trying

Keep the TC at all cost........

With a 6.5 and a TC along with the right gearing that kart should go pretty good. If you take the roll bar out make sure you take the seat belts out as well. No roll bar no belts. With roll bar add belts.

what is the top speed right now? Does the throttle open all the way when the pedal is all the way pressed down?

That TC on your kart you must keep. Without it your kart would be much slower.

Again what top speed do you have now? Do you think the engine is running fine and strong? And did you rejet the carb after you added the pipe?

yes everyone has been telling me to keep the convertor so I will , I just don't like how it seems like it slips causing me to lose power to the wheels.don't know what my top speed is I'd say 20-25mph maybe but i'm I 6' 185lbs. grown man driving it when my son gets in it moves alot fast it seems. also the seat belt are attached to the seats so they are still there and I try to make sure the kids always use them. I want to find some info on the governor and no I didn't rejet the carb after the pipe but It did seem to make a difference when I put it on and the blue flame that pops out the pipe is pretty cool too. I don't know I just want to squeeze everything I can out of this engine until I blow it the I'll grab something bigger. Thanks I'm gonna go home later and mess with her a little and see what i can do.

If you removed the roll bar and still have the seat belts on your kart you are putting your kids in grave danger by making them wear the seat belts.

Amagine being seat belted to a motorcycle? again with no roll bar no seat belts. without a roll bar it is better to be toss from the kart than seat belted in. With a roll bar then you need seat belts.
