Ok so if I went with the predator then what clutch should I be looking at? And if I went with Briggs would it make a difference in clutch? I'm trying to find used tires now and also where do you buy your throttle cables?

Both are good engines, but let me tell you GO FOR THE PREDATOR!! I have bought two of them now. 15 month warranty and usually at the check out they give you even a better deal. At least both times I went it was less than $100 with the warranty. We run on dirt and sand at our track and run full out most of the time with a 12 tooth centifigal clutch that takes a #35 chain with a 60 sprocket. Runs fast and great. Even my bro was on the kart and he is 250lb and 6'1". Enjoy this site. Everyone is very helpful.

Here is a pic that I just performed an upload from photobucket. The quick way. This is why you DO WANT TO HAVE A 2 SEATER FOR YOUR KIDS. This pic is of my two nephews. They love the two seater. My other brother whom is 6'3" takes his little boy for a ride also on that kart.

What about an 8hp Tecumseh with a 1" shaft? Will the clutch be more money? Can pick the motor up used for $40

A 1" Hilliard clutch is about $100. For that kind of money, I'd buy a new HF 6.5hp and get a $40 clutch. JMO.

I don't know what kart that is but you can get the tires and everything else here

Now that I took a longer look it looks like mine but a little different. Mine is a Yerf Dog 3020, I'm looking at how the roll bars connect, the seat and the steering wheel shaft.

Ok might be a dumb question but is there a way to reduce a 1" shaft to a 3/4" shaft? Can you buy a tapered shaft for a motor?

Can you explain that a bit more?

If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, think again. A 3/4" clutch won't handle the power of an engine with a 1" shaft (usually 8hp or more). A 3/4" clutch is only rated to 8hp.

You already started a thread for this. The advice there is pretty good.

Oh, and you won't want a tapered shaft, you would need a stepdown or the whole thing machined down.
