Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum, to go-karts, small engines, cables, brakes, seats, etc... My kids enjoy go-karting in the summer when we visit our friends and family in Illinois.
I impulsively bought a go-kart back about 1 year ago and never got it running consistently. Kind of forgot about it for a year, but recently I started working on it. The Honda GX200 6.5 hp Engine that is on it now leaks gas (badly). I bought a carb kit but then saw the clones on sale for $99 at harbor freight. For another $20 I have a 2 year full engine repair/replacement warranty. So someone with knowledge and skills can fix it for me 8). Anyhow, I'm painting the go-kart and probably going to build a new seat since it's a two seater but only one seat mounted on it now.
I have another frame for a smaller go-kart (came with the deal) I'm hoping to get ready for my son who just turned 6. It will be a project and I'll probably be looking for some more advise. Thinking I'll go with a 2.5 hp engine. We are painting it now, but I need engine, cables, chain, and a couple new tires. So one thing at a time, I'll get the big one going then the little one.
