I'm new to this... I put a new Koehler command pro 7 (208cc) on an old kart frame for my kids. It works great until they get going fast on rough terrain. Then the engine dies. It fires right up on the first pull after it dies. Is this a carburetor problem? Any ideas for a remedy? I was wondering if the shaking could be affecting the float in the carb. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe this engine isn't suited for a go kart that's run off road. Please help.

I am not too sure about your specific engine, but this is a common problem with engines that have low oil sensors. All you have to do is disconnect it and you are good to go. What happens is that when you go over bumpy terrain, the oil sloshes around in the case and the low oil sensor picks up that the oil is sometimes low, especially going around corners. It then shuts your engine down

Check if your engine has one. Post pics maybe if you aren't sure

Post photos of your whole setup. Of particular personal interest is your choice of engine.

Landuse is correct. It is most likely your low oil sensor.

These utility engines aren't designed for use in vehicles so any tipping or jarring will affect them to some degree.

Easy fix is to just cut the sensor wire to the engine shutoff ground. Don't bother with cracking the case to remove the internal sensor.

No need to cut... Just simply unplug... Cover up the relay side with the boot provided.

1. Low oil sensor
2. Carb float is sticking
3. I don't think this could happen but maybe air in the lines (If you have a filter and at least 4 foot of line)
4. Loose kill switch wire or bad ground
5. If 3 is the problem get a pulse fuel pump for 212cc engines
6. Hope this helps but as always a picture is worth a thousand words

If you're driving around like Mckutzy here, you're bound to have problems.
Your oil sensor is going to act up with the oil plug loose, and oil flying everywhere.

I appreciate all the feedback! I unplugged the low oil sensor and it hasn't died. It's running great. Thanks for the help!

You can use that unpluged end(from the sensor) and make it a kill switch.....

Put a momentary on push button switch in line to ground with a lead to ground.....
Kills the motor instantly.... no stuttering just off....
