I bought a Carter go-kart for super cheap. It has the driven part of a 20 series torque converter but no drive gear.
1. Can I buy just the drive gear?
2. How do I know what size belt to buy?
The jackshaft can be moved back and forth by loosening the bolts so I can change the distances between the centers.
Right now The kart has a 18" tires and a 12 tooth gear/sprocket. I am not sure what the big sprocket is. Will this be enough to drive adults around hilly off road ground?
3. What is the difference between a 20 and 30 series? Does the 30 series give you more torque or speed?

Here are some pics. As said before the kart has 18in tires the jackshaft is a 12 tooth sprocket. The axle sprocket is a 55 tooth? Will this work for this kart? Single seat. With a 200 lbs person.

Your driven is in rough shape, if it was me I would just upgrade to a 30 series set of clutches and retire the 20 series part. Others may not agree. As big as your tires are you may want to look into a 7 inch driven for bottom end if you are gonna be toting a load... research and decide for yourself as well as the 12 tooth... everything adds up in the end...or takes away...

Thanks I was thinking I should just buy a new driven also. And thanks for the advice on the 7 in driven. I was wondering if I had enough to get the kart around. This Kart will be just a fun ride for the kids and me. It mainly will be driven on a gravel drive and cut grass but we have some good hills to contend with.

Well, I'd probably go to a 10t drive sprocket... sprockets are cheap enough to experiment with anyway...top end is great fun but not so much for beating around the yard and climbing hills...if you wanna sling dirt and gravel you want power on the bottom.
