Newb in East Texas

I recently bought a cheap kart for the kids to use in the pasture. I also bought a cheap stick shift SOHC 2.0L Plymouth Neon to teach them how to drive a stick, & to also play with in the pasture. The Neon is definitely fun, but I’m kinda wanting to build a couple karts. My grandfather left a pair of broken riding lawn mowers in the barn that have been there for about a decade. I’m thinking we could scavenge a few parts off of them.

The kart I bought has a 212 Predator with a Stage 1 kit on it. That seems to be a pretty stout little motor. I’m wondering if it might be too much for a starter kart for the boys.

The back tires & tubes have already been replaced by same size parts, but I really want to go taller.

Also, I got a different lawn mower seat to replace the one shown. The previous owner had goats...

Welcome fellow newbie! You can always play with the top end speed bolt till your boys get the feel for it. I adjusted the speed bolt on the Coleman ut200u for my kids till they get comfortable with the bike. The mini still has the governor working and don't know if yours has been eliminated.

If it's possible to swap the front and rear tires that would allow you to put a larger rear sprocket on which will slow it down a little but allow for better donuts at the same time!

The first thing I did was buy new rear tires & tubes. I should’ve bought taller ones, that’s for sure.

The boys rode it in the pasture a little last week, but now it doesn’t want to crank. Not sure what’s up with it

I changed the plug out & got it to run great again.
