Newb-Black Widow Go Kart

I just picked up a used black widow go kart for the kids. Seemed to work OK for a few days, but problems started when chain popped off and I adjusted the chain tensioner. The chain was so loose you could pull it off the sprocket and I tightened it to about a 1/2" of play.

Driven and Driver look to be stock/original. (I am assuming the driven is the wheel directly attached ot engine and the driver is the one that links to reaer axle) It did come with a Comet 203591belt, but schematics show it having a 5959 or Comet 203589. I put the 203589 on there. It was a little bit of a pain to get it on and much tighter than belt it came with.

The kart wasn't engaging the drive wheels when throttle was pressed and then all of a sudden it would catch or slowly engage. With the new belt on....the rear wheels are engaged the entire time when rear of kart is lifted in the air. On ground with no kid it creeps, but with a kid in it...it won't move forward.

It will drive, but doesn't get up to speed like it was before.

I can turn a wrench and do what somebody shows me, but I am not familiar with these at all. Any help is appreciated.

Wont let me upload the video. Red package is new belt, 203591 is old belt that came on it.

The driven pulley is new and working properly, the belt is installed correctly.

If it had a 203591 on it
...& it ran good, why not get/try another 203591?

The 203589 seems to be a smaller belt
...so, maybe it's not letting the TC "do its thing"

It was having issues with the 203591. Throughout my attempt to diagnose everything...a local go kart place said "well the belt that is suppose to be on there is the 203589 so that might be your problem." The 203589 is smaller and seems tight, but everything says that's the right belt for the model. TC is the Torque Converter and that is what links to axle with chain?

With a brand new belt on it, it may creep until you get some time on it. It sounds also like your sprockets may be worn out also.
clean and service your clutches the way Comet says to do so. Then try it again. The Go Kart Supply website has great instructions on how to do so. The clutch on the engine is the driver, the one for the axle is the driven. By the way.
So to recap service the clutches and clean and lube them. Reinstall belt and drive it.
