HigH, Im jerry. I just aquired a apollo diesel CF186F(E) and was thinking about building a one seat off road cart. Never built one, or posses the knowledge to. and im poor. LOL. Ideas?
I can see it now, I'm stopped in my car at a busy street corner and mr potatoheadjerry is holding up a cardboard sign that reads:
"I want to build a go kart"
"no money"
"anything helps"
"god bless"
Those removable ears, nose and piercing eyes frantically searching for eye contact before the light turns green. Then out of the corner of his unibrow like unieye, mrpotatoheadjerry sees a flash of white. He runs up to the window, where a businessman hands him a card. Mrpotatoheadjerry sighs, trudging along the median as the light turns green.
After a long day and $14.73 in hard earned change, mrpotatoheadjerry is busted by the local mall cop rummaging through the dumpster in the back of the soon to be bankrupt sears store trying to collect old bed rails for an off road go kart frame.
After mrpotatoheajerry is released the next minute on good behavior, (and because mall cops aren't real cops) he goes down to the local harbor freight store in search of some moving dolly wheels he heard you can get for dirt cheap for his off road go kart build, but then he remembers a post from diygokarts that said not to use them because they break.
Mrpotatoheadjerry starts walking home, cardboard sign in hand, $14.73 in pocket, when a stranger notices his sign and hands him a crisp $20 bill. His eyes light up with joy.
Later that day, mrpotatoheadjerry then hops on his computer at home, and fills his online shoppping cart with clearance items from BMIkarts.com, and has $7.50 to spare, hopefully thats enough for shipping. He estimates shipping for $10 worth of clearance items, only to findthat BMIkarts has estimated his shipping as $26.99 standard delivery. Mrpotatoheads demeanor sinks, his heart almost breaks in half. Time to get on the forum again, because talk is pretty much free here.
After a quick google search for scrapyards, junkyards, metal recyclers, and landfills in mrpotatoheadjerry's area, he sets off for another excursion in legal dumpsterdiving, where you can get all sorts of things for cheap.
Now if he could just convert this old mower he got for $40 at the landfill to his offroad kart, he would be set. He logs back on to diygokarts.com and finds that it is difficult to convert from vertical shaft to horizontal shaft, but not impossible. Armed with an angle grinder and a little welder, mrpotatoheadjerry has found his faith in humanity again!
Welcome to the forum mrpotatoheadjerry! You can disregard what i said in the above paragraphs, i was bored.
