I overbid and won a Razor E300s at an auction. It was only $36 usd. I thought it would be new and working and I could resell it for a profit.
Because of the seat and size I thought it was a much higher end scooter than it actually was. Didnt realize they go really cheap used and are sometimes even thrown away.
However, it was dead and didn't work when I got it home. Also very used and scratched up. The batteries were good. And I do not know much about electric motor set ups. So I was a little perplexed.
Recently I started helping my buddy with his race car at the track and I love checking out other crews pit bikes and other cool motorized vehicles people use to ride around the track grounds with.
Thats when I got the bright idea to try and modify my junk scooter to not just work but to be faster than the gas powered vehicles there.
So I have been gathering parts and doing basic novice googling
I decided i wanted to try to get the biggest brushless motor and controller I could for my budget. And power them with cheap lithium tool batteries i can get from the auction. And overvolt it within reason.
So far this is my parts list
-used non working Razor e300s ($36)
- 1 Black and Decker trimmer with 40 volt lithium battery ($14.64)
- 1 Black and Decker trimmer with 40 volt lithium battery ($30.16)
- 1 Black and Decker trimmer with 20 volt lithium battery ($19.30)
- 47 tooth rear sprocket (stock is 55 tooth) (free with Ebay coupon)
-13 tooth motor sprocket (stock is 11 tooth) ( free with Ebay coupon)
- 1800 watt 48 volt 4500- 5200 RPM brushless motor kit with speed controller and throttle grips. ( $100 Ebay coupon so lowered cost to $35)
- 25h gold roller chain ( $5)
My plan is to cut off the weed trimmers battery holders and mount them to the scooter and wire them combining a 40 volt and 20 volt for a 60 volt. Then I can slide the batteries on and off to charge just like a tool. If i get one more 20 volt. I can have a full set ready charged and waiting.
The motor kit and speed controller wires are confusing and there are no diagrams. So i think im going to need help with the wiring.
Also, a little worried about overvolting it. But i see alot of people here run this similar motor kit and speed controller. So i will be posting in more detail about that.
I also was curious as to how much will 60 volts increase the RPMs to so I can run some speed calculators.
Just waiting on the chain and motor sprocket to arrive.
I also will be painting it and anodizing as much stuff as I can while its all apart.
