Hey Im Max. Im gonna build a easy off road go kart this summer and I need some help.

1. Does anyone have some easy to follow plans for a off road go kart?

2. I want a fast off road go kart, what type of engine should I use. Any suggestions for a specific engine?

Patience..... you waited a whole 20 minutes between your posts.

Easy to follow or build is a relative thing. What are your skills? What kind of equipment do you have access to? What kind of a budget are you looking at?

I built this one http://www.ubuilditplans.com/NEWUBUILDITPHOTOS.html , cost me more than that to build (around $1,200), but it has a good solid frame and is designed to take up to an 18hp engine. If you built just the base frame without the roll cage and scrounged for used parts (engine, tire, seats, CVT, etc) and metal stock - I bought all new parts, including over $100 for a steering rack which wasn't in the plans - you could probably do it for $500 and add the rest at some later time.

You could also use a clutch instead of a CVT. I spent close to $300 of my build cost on a Comet Torq-A-Verter.

The plans were relatively easy to follow, and the build was straight-forward.

If you don't have a bender, you need to either use a square tube based plan or find someone who has one. If you don't have a chop saw, you can get by with a hacksaw and an angle grinder and a lot more elbow grease.
