So I have had many projects over the years. My fav was a dune buggy for the make a wish foundation. No steering wheel, gas/brake pedal. All joystic controlled. So now my new project... I am building a fire truck go kart. I want a 20 gallon water tank, pressure washer, working hoses guages and more. So here is where I need the help. I really want to run a diesel engine. Any info you guys have would help. I have a diesel truck thats all the info I have lol.

Very cool idea! Start shopping for a 10hp Yanmar L100 diesel, or the clone equivalent. It's a horizontal shaft industrial diesel that's designed for the same sort of market as our "usual" engines.

well im not to fimilar with diesels but i would say a 8hp clone will suit you well. it will have all the torque u will need. use a tc and it will be a monster. id recomend hydrolic disk brakes!

expensive is right!

I even considered a 1.6 out of a vw. But I think it would be too much for it. Got most of the sheet metal on the front done last night. I better find an engine soon.

I did some research on these Yanmars, and they are @#$% expensive

The genuine ones are. But clones can be had cheaper. They are still more expensive than an equivalent 10hp gasoline engine, but the cool factor is way up there! I've been dying to lay hands one one...

I know nothing of that engine, but I view things like this: Based on the unique, original nature of your project, it would be shameful to power it with one of the usual suspects...

Looking good. What gauge sheetmetal are you using, and how are you forming the curved flanges? Have you seen Bando's Jeep CJ-7 thread? Fantastic bodywork!

This is why the build is the best part

This is my 8 yo daughter. She loves working in the garage with me. And I love the time spent together.
