Hello,
I've been looking for a place to get advice and work on building go karts with the kids. Everyone here seems knowledgeable. So I look forward to the advice. If anyone has already put the predator 212 on a yerf dog spiderbox please post a link. This is our first project and we need some help. Here we go.

Welcome to the forum wonder buggy. I am not too sure if anyone has put one on a Yerf Dog. What type of engine is standard on the spiderbox? Anything is possible, you just need some fabrication experience

I took it to our local shade small engine guy and he told me he wasn't getting any compression. I looked into getting another motor and it's about $400, but if there's a cheaper way out or other alternative let me know. I have 2 of them and both are inop. The other did run for a day or two then quit on me. I wanted to work on that one to see if we could make that one work for us. On the first I wanted to do something like this.

I saw that vid & the first thing that came to mind was "oh hell no", it's way too high...

Being that GY6's are so readily available, I can't see parts being hard to get or too expensive so, why not rebuild it?

Well the thought did cross my mind. After seeing others do the engine replacement, I thought this would be the quicker way to go. The new motor and the rebuild kit run about the same. There are others that did the engine replacement with the spiderbox and had it mounted in the original compartment. With the motor being mounted as high in the video, what problems would that bring?

Rebuilding the engine would eliminate the hassle of trying to get a new one in there and make everything work.

The center of gravity is affected with a engine set high

Fellow spiderbox owner here, rebuild the top end. You can do a stock complete top end kit for ~$100 plus machine shop fees. If you are looking for performance, then opt for a big bore kit complete with cylinder, IIRC, those run about $150 complete. The big bore kit won't increase power, but is a good platform for other add ons. The top end build should only take a few hours, and save tons of hassle and time converting to an industrial engine. Plus, I think you might be disappointed in the performance of the industrial engine.

FYI, GY6 hop ups are fairly cheap, and effective once you tune the CVT correctly.
