Hello everybody!

I signed up on the forum last week and have been lurking around and reading ever since and figured I would go ahead and finally introduce myself. I live in the Dayton, Ohio area.

I have seen the YouTube videos of the karts with crotch rocket engines in them and I want one badly! I love all things stupid fast and dangerous! I found one that was already built on craigslist that had a Kawasaki Ninja 500 engine for $950, but I kind of want to just build one myself. I am still reading and researching different ideas I have for building one of these monsters. Building a street legal kart would be pretty awesome too! I think the biggest question I have is regarding the placement of the clutch and shifter? Looks like most of these karts have a "bump shifter stick" either right next to the steering wheel or right beside the drivers seat. But in all the karts I have seen I haven't seen where the clutch is located? All the karts I have seen only have two pedals (brake and accelerator) and there doesn't appear to be enough room for a third (clutch) pedal? I guess all of this could be modified however I wanted to do it? I haven't been able to find any build threads on this forum. I am sure they are here somewhere but I am not sure what terms to search for.

Ok... now I am just rambling on. Just wanted to say "Hi" in this post!

:welcome2:

Search for "shifter kart"; there are only one or two extreme karts here, most have up to a 125cc 2 stroke but, it will give you ideas for the clutch/shifter; some put a hand clutch lever on the shifter stick...
