Hows it going everyone?
I've been reading on this forum for probably 4-5 months now,
and have just newly started posting.
Just wanted to make a little introduction, and
maybe get to know some people, and hopefully
in the future be able to contribute to future members.
Starting off, I'm fairly new to the go kart scene.
I never had one as a kid because money was tight.
but now I pay my own way, and happened to stumble across and old 2 seater manco 5.5.hp.
The kart was claimed to have ran when parked 6 months prior.
All the guy said it needed was a chain and some gas in it.
Not to mention all he wanted for it was 50$. So I bought it wheeled it home. Slapped a chain on it. Fueled it up.
And it ran like a dream! I've been addicted since!
I am new to the karting scene, I am however not new to engines.
I work for a Caterpillar dealer here in Tamp,fl.
I did 4 years of on road truck repairs.(semi tractors).
Everything from PM service. To in-frames to full on engine rebuilds from the ground up.
and the past 5 years have been in generator maintenance and repairs in the field.
where I have done the same.
I regularly work on generators from 10,000 Watt,to 2Meg (2,000,000Watt) Including generator end replacement troubleshooting and all the fun stuff associated with the life of a field tech.hahah.wich can be rather grueling at times.
one engine we commonly see in the field is a "3516" wich is large V-16 engine, that can produce up 2950bhp at 1800rpm.
It's funny though I've got all this knowledge about Industrial diesels, and when I recently got into karting I had no clue there was such a following, and such a large aftermarket for these things.
It's amazing the things you can see when you open your eyes!
Anyway I hope I've made a decent introduction.
and hopefully I'll get to know some of you guys!
