New To Me Kart, Questions and Progess.

Hi guys I am back, got my belt, installed it but have a few questions...
What caused this???

Looks like some rubbing but cannot see anything touching it?

Also I am 6"3' 280 on this streaker, does the steering normally push, might have to put a wheelie bar on this critter. Rode it around a little, it was a blast, climb thru my ditch with my scary body on it with no problem. If I could mod the seat to get more leg room that would be sweet! Any ideas ??? Thank!!!!

Is the belt ware only on the outside?

I can see a big bracket that looks like it's rubbing on it. Also, the back plate of your driven looks bent (which won't help)

Put the kart up on jackstands with the nose against a wall. Run it to full throttle observing the belt. As the sheaves change pitch, you may see where it's rubbing. It could well be on that cover bracket, which may be bent.

The driver and driven unit are not lined up correctly. 2 problems i see besides what others have mentioned.

1) The jackshaft driven shaft and the motor shaft should be parallell to one another, which they are not.

2)The driven and driver should have the belt lined up within the 'v' on each with the engine turned off. The driven is pushed out too far, or the driver is not far enough away from the engine block. You could probably put a 3/4 inch spacer between the driver and engine block. See this link, scroll down to 30 series. http://www.gokartsupply.com/tcbelts.htm

When the TC squeezes it lifts the belt generally past the edges of the driver. I believe that when that happens that belt keeper is biting the back of you're belt. PercRTussion tool fix
