I got a new kart, cheap with a 5.5 engine gx 160 Honda. However the kart suffer from rust, engine runs great but i don't know what mount to use, i've found a great deal at BMI karts $40 for universal i believe 15 degrees, it should work. I have some pic on my page feel free to look and help me out, the steering was from margay as well as the axle but i don't think i'll be able to use the axle anyway:mad:. Main goals now is to get it running ASAP:auto:

i think i could use the steering, i'll need a clutch and rear hubs which i'm completely lost on size and if they will work on the wheels that are good.

if you guys have any suggestion on how to remove alien creews on front hubs, they are stuck:mad2: thank you for your help if you need more info just ask i apruiciate it

Looking at the kart, me personally, I'd just weld a regular engine mount plate on it and call it a cheap day.... It's just gonna be for fun.... NO need in the 15* mount.... IDK maybe it's just me.....
O yeah.... :welcome2:

NO need in the 15* mount....

IIRC, with a flat mount, the air intake hits the rear wheel...

Yep, your kart is in need of some heavy duty cleaning, not much a wire wheel won't fix...

Exactly what screws(?) are you referring to on the fromt wheels?

Also, since this is more about the kart in general, I'm moving it to the general discussion section...

yeah but after some work i finally got everything apart except for some things on the axle  and today i decided to work a little bit on it and manage to get the hubs off the front wheels they where hart to take out, anyways i notice that the wheels that are good need a longer hub or something because when i tried mounting it the tube is not long enough and touches the wheel :censored: i'm really going nuts now i feel like i did all that work for nothing cuz now the hubs are not big enough/ i don't know what hubs i'll need to get the all 4 on its all mess without a path or end :roflol: here are some pic, if anyone has some spare used parts of anytime just let me know thank you for the great support.

sorry for the delay i've been busy with school and work/ i have immediate notification when i get a reply, tomorrow i'll be free may order parts if i or you guys find out what parts are right. I search the other day and the frame seems to be Yahama rc100  time for some sleep hope i get some reply

more than enything i need to know what hubs i'll need to mount the good wheels, i think i wont be able to use the steering that came with it from margay

stuff list-
*steering/pedals
*axle/bearing, disc break
*i may have to go with mechanical break(i'll upgrade later if)
*engine mount
*clutch/chain
*thats about it i think, i've found steering kits but i don't get what the kind of alien metals or whatever is the steering that came with it did not have any metal just a simple pedals and cables

here are the things ive look at, the butterfly mount should work right? if it does what option should i use american or international? i'll need 2 set right

i believe bmi offers better prices overall i believe because on go kart galaxy shipping is $$ and charges for every single part. under the pedal it has some L shape metals that confuse me, also this should come with the mount for the wheel, cuz i don't see them on my is made of plastic

as for hubs i really don't know what to look for :( i'll post the pic on my profile, thank you again guys

if that's a Margay kart (and not just a spindle).. DO NOT WELD ANYTHING TO IT!
that will immediately render the kart worthless

that's like burning a thousand dollars... and who would want that?

if it's an RC100 like you said.. still burning a few hundred dollars (above 500 ;))

holly really, you gave me some hope, i was already thinking in selling everything start a new search, i think it only has margay spindle and axle i do believe its a yamaha rc100 based on pic ive seen. I paid $150 for everything rusted but he knew it needed work so he gave me 4 wheels 2 with hubs that seen to be useless and a honda gx160 5.5 hp, i think just the engine was worth the price, it runs very well, may need new oil tho

thank you for the reply i appreciate it :wai: if you know anyone with knowledge about hubs and the dam wheels tell me..

Just a thought. I do not know for sure but....:idea2:
Is that wheel bolted to the hub "inside out" Yes a regular car the air filler would be on the out side but on race wheels they may go inside to prevent flats, Also the offset:
A. The wheel would not hit the spindle if you flipped it around. and
B. That would make the kart wider for better handling. Since this is a racing frame.??

Like I said just a thought maybe worth a try.

yeah i can definitely try but the offset is like 0 so i think i'll be about the same, also the air plug will be facing the inside too, good tip i'll try anyway tomorrow checkout my pic in prof everyone they have comments etc

thank you, here are the pic, guys i found another issue the engine seems to be too big, hope the 15* mount get the engine off the seat and elevates the engine cuz i think it could have some issues with wheels on:mad: has anyone figure out what hubs ill should use. i reverse the front wheels hubs and it works i decided to use the old bearings as spacers so that it doesn't rub the tire.

I think you've got one of the Margay Panther models.
This link has info that might help you I.D. It: https://www.margay.com/what-kart-do-i-have.html

I'd suggest getting one of the adjustable 15-degree motor mounts so you can locate the engine further outward for more seat clearance. The Black Rhino mount http://cometkartsales.com/Black-Rhino-4-Cycle-Mounts/ cost more but its super high quality and has a lot more adjustment options than the adjustable motormount BMI sells.

Some brands/models of motormounts fit both the American and International frame rail spacing, and then with some other brands of motormounts you have to specify and order the correct one to match your frame.

You can measure the distance of your frames two engine rails to determine which type of mount your kart needs. International frame rail spacing will Measures 3 5/8", the American frame rail spacing is only 3". (take your measurements from the center to center points of your frame rails) And then also confirm the mount is made to fit your frame rail diameter.

So do you want front or rear wheel hubs? (If rear, you need to post your axle diameter) You'll also need to post the bolt circle pattern, and center-hole size of your rims, measured like the pic below:

awesome the rear, i'll post the measurements in a couple, good to know very helpful thank you, as for axle i think is one inch but i'll probably order a new one because is somewhat bad. my initial problem was the front hubs but i put a bearing as spacer and it doesn't rub anymore. Once i get this rolling i'll have more interest on getting it look good. so far my biggest issue is the rear hub/engine mound. I think the clutch i need has to be 3/4 :wai: not actual progress but it is in some form progress/knowledge thanks

Hey, if your going to order a new axle, brake rotor, hubs, etc. , you should get a 40mm axle because they're the easiest to get parts for and are very durable.
