I recently picked up a project cart. I "think" its an older 1990's Avenger road race Chassis. It's a lay down style cart, for someone a whole heck of a lot taller than I am. So, I figured I would use it to build an upright style yard Kart. It already has some decent font steering geometry, along with some decent parts and pieces, brakes, 1.25 axle, nice wheels and tires, etc. However, I don't know 100% what I have, so I don't want to cut up something that I shouldn't. Please let me know if this is something that I shouldn't hack up.

Here are a couple thoughts I am having, along with mock up pictures. It's going to get a predator 212 motor with a chinese CVT. It's got to be flexible enough in the seating and controls for different sized people to drive. It has a long wheelbase, so I thought it would lend itself well to become a rear engine Kart. My rough measuring tells me the weight bias would be about right, and it should be pretty easy to fabricate anything that is needed. With that being said, I am not against side mounting the motor, but ultimately I would have to rethink the chassis and shorten up the chassis about 8 inches to make it right. Any input is appreciated

And now, some pics!

This is what I got for 200 bucks. Not sure if you will see me on Pawn Stars anytime soon, but I think it was a decent purchase

Here are some pics showing what my initial thoughts were for this cart. It's going to be basic, nothing fancy. A good old HF 212 predator, with Comet knock-off CVT. A cheap cart seat, Some decent tires, and a low chassis. I think it could be fun!

Let me know what you think. I'm not thin skinned, so hit me with your honest thoughts.

Thanks for checking it out!

You killed it for $200. Nice score. I also approve of your concept, but cannot speak to the value or collectability of the chassis.

I'd suggest you use a 15-degree side-motormount and move your seat over just far enough to clear the CTV. Your steering column is already offset to line up with a leftward mounted seat. Your racekart was designed for the weight distribution of a sidemount engine, Installing the engine in the back will hurt the handling characteristics, It'll have too much weight in the rear, It'll push in the corners & wont turn nearly as well.

Some of the 15-degree racekart motor mounts have the added feture of side to side adjustability, so If you bought one one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RACING-GO-KART-BRIGGS-PERFORMANCE-MOTOR-MOUNT-/361129387752 you'd probably have enough room for your CTV with the seat center-mounted. I could help you determine if your frame has the USA or International rail-spacing before ordering...
______________

You could instal a dual-pedal mod like this kart, so anyone could ride it comfortably:
