Hi everyone

I’ve wanted to build a kart for some time now but never really had the ability to start until now.

I’m currently in my second year at college studying product design/resistant materials. I decided that I would build a go kart frame for my project since it’s probably the best and last time for me to do it before I leave for university and end up forgetting about it.

I bought an old go kart with a rather bigger than expected engine (Honda GX360 Petrol 12HP) :p. The kart also came with a hydraulic disk brake and old mini cooper wheels. I’ll post some picture of it soon, and I’ll also start adding the pictures showing how the frame is coming along once I start building it. For now however I have to complete all the paper work like the research pages and designs pages. So I’ll also be using the forum to gather information and advice on my designs and how to improve them.

One thing that I do require some help with first of all is that I have to write a questionnaire page where I do some market research. I was hoping whether I could ask members on this forum to fill in the questionnaire to help me with my work :)

Please note that for my project I am only stating that I will build the frame, therefore my market research is looking at what other people would want if they only needed a frame to be designed/built and is based on them already having all the parts (engine, wheels etc.) Please answer maturely as all the result will be going in my work :)

Cheers :)

Ok, first question & I already see a few problem with your survey:
1. What scale is used (inches, millimetres, centimetres)?
2. IMO, most folks don't measure their engine, they build their karts around them.

Not trying to be picky or annoying but the user has no idea how sensitive the survey guidelines are. Also, wouldn't figuring out the engine dimensions be your job? :D

Welcome to the forum & good luck with your research

Edit: Done

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve edited the question(s) as I only really need to know what type of engine people have... I can kind of guess the size of most engines and as you said it should be my job to find them out :p

Also could you advertise the questionnaire a little bit. I’m not sure how it would be best to do it, but I need a few more responses atm and it would be a great help :)

I’ve attached a couple of pictures as well now :)

That is one cool kart!!! It has a real vintage feel to it. I also like those reduction boxes on your engine. It has a wet clutch inside that is generally bomb proof
