Hey guys just looking for a place to start and a point in the right direction. I currently have a 2001 yz125 motor from my old mx bike and would like to start a build. My question is what type of rolling chassis should i be looking into..What would best fit this motor?

I hate to answer a question with a question, but what do you want it to do? the most common use for that type of engine is a shifter/racing kart but that type of setup would be almost useless if you intend to ride in dirt. So where do you intend to use it?

I really appreciate the replies. Good to know many chassis could work.. just need to find mounts etc. I have googled a bunch yet I'm here. Are there any brands of chassis I should be looking at? Thanks again for replys

If you still have the frame that the engine came out of, you can just cut the mount straight out of the frame and weld it to the kart chassis. Easy! You then don't have to fabricate anything

You'll find a motormount at this link: http://sharkshifter.com/zc/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=76

This link has a list of racekart manufactures: http://www.kartfinder.com/sprint-karts.html
You'll find most all of those are high quality, and that the basic frame design is fairly similar between most all those brands. All of those brands offer sprintkart models, but many also offer the 125cc. shifterkart upgrade, (those would typically be the same basic 100cc. frame) but with the addition of front brakes, a larger 50mm. diameter axle, shift/clutch levers & linkage.

Are you planning on just riding around for fun on parking lots and stuff, or do you think you might end up racing at a track? If you just riding for fun, I wouldn't worry too much about any specific brand, Just make sure it already has front brakes because they're super expensive to add and you'll truly need that extra stopping ability with your engine
