Hello everyone my name is Richard and I'm in south eastern nc. I just recently purchased a used go kart that I'm having a hard time finding out what kind of kart it is. Its missing the clutch as the previous owner removed it and no longer had it. So now I've got to try and figure it out. I think it may be a carter but I also think it could be a Murray. I only gave $300 for it and the engine runs good...............thanks for any insight and help.

Richard, I just recently started rebuilding a model just like yours. I have a thread on here in the Project section. I just tore mine down and am getting it ready for paint. You need a 3/4" bore Centrifugal Clutch Pulley type. They are on eBay for like twenty something bucks. You also need a 5L300 V-belt. This setup is just like my first Carter kart I rebuilt last month. My kart like yours is missing the jackshaft and roll cage, thanks for posting the pictures, nice to see what mine should look like

Thanks everyone..........after y'all told me that the tag had the info I needed I found a diagram with the part I needed. I had been trying to look up the "kart wheels" name to no avail for hours on Google and could not find a similar kart. It came with 3 belts but no clutch. The previous owner removed it to get a new one and never got it and lost the old one so I've been on a wild goose chase for a day looking at 1,000's of carts online and here. The throttle cable was also hooked up wrong and I have now fixed that too. I like how the craigslist add said running go kart would make great Christmas present for $450! then I arrived to find a un running project. Guess I can't complain too much because in the end I got it for $300 and it dosnt look like I will have to put to much more $$ into it to make it a good present for my boys. Now where to find some pool noodles for it in the winter.

You can find Black Pool Needles at a Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Supply shop.
Known as Rubatex or Armatex.
Or a Plumbing supply house, Pipe insulation.

Or Good ol Home Depot "pipe insulation".
Possibly you locally Owned and Operated True Value.

All the info you need is on the tag.. You are lucky to still have it.. Google can help you the rest of the way..

I was going to charge him $9.95 for that manual... Plus 5.00 for Email shipping

Then why did you send him off to Gewgle like a miserable ingrate?
...;)

I sent him off to gewgle because.. I wasn't in the mood to learn for him.. I was making a joke to you about charging 9.95 please note the 5.00 email shipping fee.. see that was another little joke.. As for being an ingrate. Well. Is that a typo ? Or are you not to sure of its meaning ?

Bigfoot, your brake rod is not installed correctly, it should go thru that guide piece next to it.

This is how mine looked before I took it apart. It made the band brake line up perfectly with the drum.

Wish I knew you were looking for a clutch. I got a guy in Colorado I got my last one for $17.53 and free shipping. Ordered Friday and had it on Monday.
Man For 2 days wait you could have had 4! and still saved 5 bucks.

Then sold the other 3 for 75 bucks to the locals.
