My dad just bought my twin girls a Kart off craigslist for $500.00. It needs brake work. Any suggestions on where to get them? From what I know it is a Subaru Vortex Fox? I attached a picture. Any advice would be helpful. Also has very poor power going uphill.

Thanks
Derk

Welcome to the forum! Your kids are gonna love the ride. While I'm not familiar with the model, post a pic from the other side, showing engine, drive, and axle components. This will help us figure out your needs.

Good stuff. Now the power issue. Thanks to the pics (thank you) I see that you have a CVT. Which means, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the hills. Have a look at Blazkowiez's CVT maintenance thread here.

Will do thanks. I think the belt is wrong or worn.

Very hard to tell with pics, but I think you DO have the wrong belt. Look closely for me- Are there markings on belt that say "This side toward engine"? You have an asymmetric CVT, meaning that one side of the belt needs to be angled like a V-belt, and the other side very nearly flat. Is this the case?

I like this guy already

Welcome to the forum

What is the gearing from the small jackshaft (driven) sprocket to the axle sprocket. There are quite a lot of "manufactured" karts out there where the designers overestimated the engines capabilities & undergeared them

I picked up a new belt today. Much tighter and probably about 1/8 inch wider than the used one it came with. Thanks for the info.

Also the spark plug was black so i replaced it too.

Having a black spark plug can mean that your engine has problems that you don't know about. Have a look at these charts to read your plug correctly
