People like to drag race them Poboy. You can but special tracks for it and everything. If he's near a track there might be a few crazies down there with them.

You just can't beet 0 to 90mph in 6 seconds. Lol. Once you try it your hooked.

Yeah...I meantioned that in another post....but...even with a few (trust me....VERY few running down dragstrips) they're not going to import snowmobiles and give ANY part of them away for cheap!

So...no...there are $100 bills just lying in the streets around here. (good luck on finding one...) and winning big ticket lotto tickets....but rare as they are...you can probably find one of them or get struck by lightning as find a deal on a snowmobile anything around here.....

We got tractors and lawnmowers tho!

EDIT: To give you an idea: I'm almost 60 and I've seen 3 white Christmas. I've seen more 80°f Christmas days than I can count....we might get an inch of snow for a day or two once every 3or 4 years.

Ya can't say I'm an expert on the southern states, my bad there. Don't think I've even been to a state that didn't get snow.

Lol.

This was a poker durby we had a few months ago. Mine is the white one on the left. It's a short track not enough traction to go on water. If I had a long track I'd defiantly try the water.

Lol. We've got an old TNT 340 I'm doing that to. I'm talking about that in my thread. "From Scartch Build" My sled would make an awesome kart though. 800cc's and 160hp of pure amazing power. To bad it's in perfect shape and worth good money still. Maybe in 5 years.

I thought you were nuts for suggesting the 22 HP engine...until I searched YouTube for some projects that use it. Some awesome builds out there. I think I'd have to build a chopper with the "V-Twin" and make a mini Harley vs a kart with that engine. :) Good luck with the project! Keep an eye out for the Harbor Freight coupon/sale and you can pick up the engine for a great price.

I really really hope your kidding but... You drill a hole in the ice and fish. You literally just sit there on the ice. Not my thing but whatever. Good way to :cheers2:drink beer.

Yeah..I know...it does get cold here sometimes...and there is a lake I can walk to if I wanted. The floodgate at the dam never worked when they built the lake back in the 30's or 40's...so the lake silted in and got very shallow almost everywhere. There are stories of it once freezing over and people driving cars on it.

I never experienced that but it did develop about an inch of ice once in the last 30 years..I went fishing and broke through the ice to fish in my tube. After fishing for an hour without catching anything I looked down in the center of that tube...and it was weird that the ice had broke into cubes. I thought, man, I'm just like a giant fountain drink, so I went home.

People drive car's onto lakes here every winter to go fishing lol. Contrary to what some beleive however, it's pretty rare for Lake Michigan to fully freeze.

My only hold up with the big industrial engines is cost. HF coupons don't apply to engines, welder's, or air compressors BTW. Basically anything I want to buy there lol.

By the time you buy a big ole 16-23 HP engine, and a clutch (TC) for it, you're likely up around 800 in cost. You can buy a whole snowmobile for 400 bucks, or a wrecked street bike for 600. And instantly have four times the power.

Yes but the industrial engine is simple. Put it on start it up and go. No shifting, no customizing and cutting up parts to make it work. So they both have there ups and downs. I will pick an industrial engine every time over a street bike motor. No need to go 80 mph

When you go to the 16hp and up engines, on a kart, you definitely need to cut them up and customize thing's to make them work, on most karts lol.

But you are right, there are pro's and cons, and an industrial engine can push a large kart/small buggy around well enough.

I, personally, don't need to go 80 mph either, but I want to. I also want to be able to climb up hills, and jump jumps. Driving up and down the street and in circles around a field got old quickly for me.

And that's why I'm using a snowmobile engine. Light, simple, powerful.
An old sled is just as simple as any industrial motor. But I do understand some of you Americans don't have access so a big industrial motors is the best option.

What happened to the OP?

With a name like that and so close to Mexico, he might need reminding that a snow mobile is NOT an underground cart system for transporting narcotics across the border?
