Hello,
My name is Larry but I usually go by LJ. I've had a scratch-built go-kart since 1977. By that time I was at least the 3rd owner. It was originally built sometime in the 50s. In the late 60s my grandfather bought it for my older cousins and they gave it to me in 77. My dad got a 3 hp Briggs engine manufactured in 1969 for it back then. In 2008 I took it out for my niece and nephews to play with, the engine still ran but was in need of a carb overhaul. Since parts were now hard to find for such an old engine I decided in 2010 to buy a Honda clone from Harbor Freight but never got it fully installed. This past Sunday I finally took the time to finish the install because my kids are now old enough to play with it. I still need to tweak a few things and maybe upgrade some safety equipment but my kids have had a blast playing with it so far.
