hello i am new to forum and i find it great so far. i have a question. i have a yerf dog 3208 (on their website it is a camo but looks similar to i believe 3203) My engine messed up and now i am having extreme trouble finding a replacement. I can find suitable engines, problem is the crankshafts are too short. the one on the gocart is a tecumseh powersport with a 3/4" diam. x 2 7/8" long. i tried putting in an engine from Harbor Freight 6.5HP 3/4" shaft x 2 1/4" long i got for $115.00 today only to find that i can't bolt my comet torque converter on. anything i can do to make this work or is there another engine i can get thanks in advance and any help is appreciated

I'm prety sure theres been quite a few guys here that instaled Comet t/c's on these clone motors. I'll bet someone can help if you give us more specific info about exactly why this clones shorter shaft is causing a problem here.

thank u thank u thank u. I had been thinking of something of the sort, but a lot more complicated. do you think if i cut a piece of the crank of my old motor i could make it work or is there some place where i can buy a piece and have them cut it nice. i am worried that if i cut crank it will be a bad cut, kinda sideways. let me know what you think thanks alot

hello thanks again i just thought of something, i could get a piece of aluminum or steel 3/4" diam. 5/8" long for the correct bolt but what about the key. the torque converter has a slot it rides on on the crankshaft. just something i thought of let me know if im overthinking. also what if i just cut the crank off the old one and take it to machine shop to be cut down to size, that way it will be correct dimensions plus keyed? let me know and thanks again.....i love this forum :bannana:

It's what I would do.
Bring everything with you when going to the shop.
Might be a good idea to remove threads from spacer, unless you can get threads to "magically" line up.

that is over kill isn't it? why not a spacer out of a wheel or one of those threaded couplers with a washer? what all is wrong with that motor? if you chop the crank it will ruin it.
