Always liked driving fast, decided to try my hand at making a cart.
Found this place early in my research.

I want a little go fast toy that would be a little cheaper/easier than my full size cars. I could build a little cart for what one part on my other car costs.

Not looking to compete, just build something fun.

All I my car work I do myself, I have lots of tools. Welder, bandsaw, grinders, cordless and air tools.
I would rather buy a tool, than pay someone to use it, have done almost everything you can do to car.

Lots of the tools I don't get to use much, I would love to build a locost ( caterham/lotus home built car ) but I figure a kart is about the same thing but far smaller, cheaper, and easier.

In the middle of turbo charging my miata ( kind of like a huge go kart )
And working on that project makes me want a simpler ( cheaper ) hobby to cope with my expensive hobby. :D

How about a lathe?

In what reality is a Miata huge :roflol:

Glad to have you aboard, this should be a snap for you.

Are you planning to build a kart from scratch, frame & all, or a ground up rebuild; in essence, do you want to make a kart or just put one together?

No lathe, Yet. Never needed one for anything I do.

2250lb Miata is huge for a go kart. Should be fun with 200+ hp though.

If I can find a cheap frame/roller, would make it a lot easier.
Since I think a lot of the work is planning out the steering and throttle/brakes.

But I plan on scratch built unless I find a deal. Get what you want that way.
