so ive been riding carts for a few years but ive never owned my own. not too long ago i bought a used Rattler lxt with a Tecumseh Power Sport 6.0 HP engine. i plan to use it primarily for the mud, dirt, and a little bit of water and sand because the land i have to ride it on it right near a shallow river where i used to use my quad. i would like to make the cart higher but im not sure if i can since its discontinued. i would also like to put some suspension in the back. any advise and tips would be great. thanks everyone in advance
heres a picture of it as well

If you want it to be higher you would have to get larger tires or modify the frame. As for rear suspension you could find the rearend from a atv or you could fab up a swingarm. Could you take some pics of the rear of your kart?

It would most likely be a 30 series torque converter. This uses a 3/4" wide belt cut asymmetrically, 18° on one side 2.5° on the other. Also, the distance between the centers of the driver and driven pulleys matters. They are still mostly available even thought Comet is out of business. Check Ebay. As for more ground clearance, bigger tires are an option but if you have the tools to fabricate a swing arm with the motor mounted to it would be best because you would get the dampening effects of the shocks and depending upon where you mount them and their length would give you more clearance in the back. As for the front, bigger tires would also be an option but keep them narrow or do dual a-arms with suspension and again, the length of the shocks as well as mounting location would improve ride height.

I think you should sell that cart and build your own with suspension.

It will be worth much more unmodified, and a custom made suspension kart will be better than one modified to have suspension.

im not looking to up the value of it. i want it to have fun. and i dont have the resources or materials to build one. id much rather make this one to my liking because its pretty close to that the way it is now

also, i was thinking. if i were to build some sort of bracket and support that could bolt onto a shock and then make another bracket that i could put on the axle and bolt to the other eye of the shock would that work? or would it be unstable?

I'd suggest building something along the lines of the photo in the link that you posted but modifying it for your kart and specific wants. It's the simplest system and reliable.

id much rather leave the kart the way it looks and create some sort of suspension system that comes off of where the axle is currently in place so i wont need to modify the frame much if at all

ill work on a drawing
