new to carts guys any advice appreiciated

hi all ive got myself a cart .well all new to me normally motorbikes.anyway ive installed an engine i no runs ive adapted it as it was a mower engine but i have to start somwhere.anyway i have put the engine in ofwhich i have installed a direct sprocket from engine shaft to rear axel sprocket.i was wondering if anyone else has tried it.this is a tempory thing until i get around to buying a clutch.also whats the best known way to start the machine as obviously no clutch means it will drive straight away or i think.well guys any help appreiciated

Lift the back end up and get someone to start it. Drop the rear end and run after it.. jump on. That's what someone I know does with his which is a direct beltdrive.

How did you go about adapting the lawnmower engine? I'm not sure I follow.

You'd better gear it REALLY low.
