Hello All,

The name is Daniel and I'm a new Member... just today I picked up some frames for me and the boys to work on this summer.. I've been stalking some of the threads for info so I figured now that have some semblance of a go kart I may as well join your epic site. Proud to be here

The frames need a bunch of work and I intend to learn some things myself, so I will be buying a welder soon.. until then, I'll be grinding some of the old life and crustys off these frames.

The guy I bought them from would not split them up... god knows I didn't need four frames. But we will see what comes of each of them. The yellow frame looks to be a Red Fox but I'm unsure of the rest. Any help in identifying them would be awesome. They are stripped down pretty good and only one has some rust issues (the floor pan needs to be replaced) but other than that I think they are salvageable.

I'll be stumbling around the site for tips and tricks and any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I added the pics the seller used when he sold them and the 5th pic is from when he pulled up with them on his trailer. He added a few extras here and there but I don't know that I'll get to use everything..

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

P.S. I only paid 2/3 of the asking price for these frames. 😎

both two seaters are Mancos
the yellow one is a model 475

and the other one... uhm
I think 375:

Oh nooo wait, that's a dead axle version correct..
then it's not a Manco (well it was still made by Manco ;)) but it's a a Sears :D
"Lime Limo" IIRC.. (that'd explain the color)

same same just different ;)

the first single seater looks to be a Phoenix StarBird to me (also some catalogue kart as you can see)

the last one I have no clue I'm afraid
but if I have to make a guess with those nerf bars it came with a body originally..
maybe a Carter, maybe a Bird maybe something completely different *shrugs*

Sounds like a great project all around. You bought some derelict frames and that alone is a good thing as most would've passed them by or they might have been scrapped altogether.

Hey thank itsid. I was in the right section of the pdfs last night I was thinking the yellow is a 475, 485 or edit: (475-00 or 435-00).. I have the rear axle spacers and I'll have to measure them to be absolutely sure which model it is exactly. They are all virtually the same except a few parts here or there..But you're probably spot on.... And I did find black paint under all that yellow. This is the one we will start with this spring/summer

I was going to fish around those pdfs until I eliminated all the frames ("not mancos") or actually identified them. You saved me a ton of work getting me started here. Thanks again.

Hellion, It's gonna be a lot of work and money but it's better than new gadgets or the movies all summer for my boys.. or worse getting bored and into trouble when I'm not around. Derelicts are the ones we get the most satisfaction/pride in when they are completed. When I saw the pics.. all I could think of was MIKE from American Pickers.. "Rusty Gold"

Thanks again

Yeah. It's def a 475... along with the 60 tooth sprocket I verified the lengths of the spacers .. 3" & 3.75" respectively. Thanks again. Now I have a great jumping off point and can order parts for the build-a-beast.

:cheers2:
