I appologize... I should of been abit clearer... I was in Afghanistan on a civilian postal contract. Not a GI... I couldnt pass their hearing exam. According to them Im over 50% deaf... My reply to their calculations... "huh?!" lol. But I could hear well enough to be under a federal contract w/ secret clearance under my belt... for other federal employment clearance. Round here theres alotta careers that require a minimum of secret clearance.

Ok... my friend has a tiller(old) w/ a 4hp motor on it. Not sure the rpms or anything bout it. I do know that it has 2 shafts(forwards and reverse) both 3/4". I believe he said its a B&S... but im not 100%.

I was thinking... is it possible that the motor 'shouldnt' be run on Priceline? And if its ok... would there be a way to fashion a way to use the reverse shaft as a reverse gear? Im pretty sure being a tiller the motor is setup for torque to the shaft... and Im guessing the RPM's will determine whether or not a cent clutch is useable or if Ill just use a belt to a pully at the axle. Pretty sure this motor will be slower than the Honda... maybe 'too' slow?

Well, I'd say it'll be the std 3600 rpm, and gearing (thus torque) is set up by the pulleys.
So an ordinary cent clutch will do.

If the tiller is still complete, you may want to take good images of all the pulleys and their arrangement.
Maybe there is a reverse gear mechanism you can just 'copy' to priceline.
Maybe the reversing shaft just drives an auger.. I don't know, but you'll see.

But keep in mind that the reversed shaft runs off the camshaft;
I'm not too sure that it can take the same load as the crankshaft, so be gentle
and use extra low gearing for that

I'm not sure a cent clutch is your best option if you intent to have a reverse gear,
there might be some sort of belt engagement (like a ride on mower clutch) which is an effective way to disengage the forward shaft and engage the other one.
With a cent clutch it'll be hard to disengage that driveline.
So I think using the pulleys and belts is an option if you want a reverse gear for your daughter.

A lot of things say B&S (carb/tank setup, inspection plate) but, the very round fins don't but, I could be wrong...

Keep in mind that the cam turns at half the speed of the crank...

With that air cleaner and carb setup as stated by Fabroman, it is a B&S, without engine numbers could be a 3/5HP. The older B&S flatties had round edges on the head fins.

See the two in the middle.. both take two belts and it looks like at least the right one is moveable,
to either engage both drivetrains, or engage one and disengage the other at the same time,
I can't tell if the large one does take both belts, so I'm not sure...
but the second scenario would be your reverse gear setup basically (that'd be nice)

In the second picture the pulleys on the right are the reverse setup, driven off the cam. And yes it is a two belt setup. When using reverse the ilder for forward drive is disengaged Therefore no power to that belt.

Well... first day it aint rained in almost a week... Priceline is painted n running,again! But I am DEFINITLY gonna need to slow the top end... shes gotta 'wobble' to her. Her CoG is evidently not low enough for 20-25mph! So, as I break the tiller motor down n rebuild it(before 2014), Ill also be working on the 3rd kart w/ the racing CoG n steering. After its all fixed, the Honda motor will be back on it(the frame came w/ the motor originally at purchase). Ill probably end up sellin Priceline upon the 3rd karts completion. And use the $$$ for racing rims/tires n a differential for the 3rd...by then the daughter will want the speed, so gotta widen it some for that low n wide look(like Lo-T).

Well... Got quite afew things done. Priceline is driving n pretty much done. The tiller motor is running but has a hard time starting(probably 7yrs of sitting round gunk builtup in there). The idea... Instead of fabricating a reverse, the idea of running a generator with the spare drive, for lights n electrical thingys... any comments on this idea?

thats not a bad idea. get a old car alternator and make some kinds of bracket that bolts to the side of the engine and a pully and belt and your good to go. not a bad idea at all.

I think that's okay, otherwise it's a rather bad idea I think, an alternator draws quite some power (power you might not have much use for anyways)
Reducing power for your girl is okay I think, some updated gearing and the kart will be slower but still provides enough torque (basically what you wanted anyways )

car alternators easily eat a horse;
And for just a little light you don't need that much wattage.
So if you want to drive it yourself it's maybe not a good idea to reduce the engines power output.
