Today I pulled out the kart Im building for my daughter's 'solo' drives. Im calling 'this' one "Priceline"... as in, after it's together n back to factory, daughter has a 200$ line of credit, from me, to either upgrade or anything dealing w/ it.

Shes wanting its paint scheme to be black on white(I know, I know,... "a white kart?!...?!")... Im sure ill talk her into something more 'dirt' friendly in color.
Planning on either a HF 5hp motor, or something that runs well for less. Going for a 10T clutch/maybe 66T axle...keeping wheels 10"(should be round 16mph).
The stuff you see on Priceline are all off Lo-T. The motor will be a different one...

Dual scrubs and a Manco looking steering wheel. ...interesting.

That's the samething Lo-T is... manco w/ scrubs. I put a band on her now... so shes runnin both, scrubs as backup, plan on doin samething w/ Pricline. After I eventually getta 1' open axle for Lo-T, this one'll get the 3/4(Ill just make it open instead of incased like it is now), which'll widen the stance considerably(ill be making framework supports) and make the scrubs obsolete.

Met a fellow DIY kart(not the site... he does things himself if he can) guy today... we started talking... one thing led to another and "BAM"... "Here you go..." drops 'the' gear that I was wanting to put on Priceline... the ever popular 72T :2guns:

So... Im 1 step closer. Just finished up Lo-T's rear(gotta peak n tweak misc...brakes/steering wheel/loud 'clanging' sound from JS...thinking its the spacers I made). W/ this 72T and a 10 at the clutch...15mph "wOO-Hoo" w/ a 7.2 ratio on 10' wheels...lol(wish i had a tape measure here... this sprocket 'may' need a larger wheel...
{EDIT}Sprocket is about 8 3/4" diameter... gonna be close...

.... to be continued.

... back to the grind-stone...

Okie dokie... I finally have gotten round to 'starting' 'this' project... and so has my daughter. She's a slow starter... but once I got her in that shed turning nuts and cutting metal... I couldnt get her out!...

Gotta GX200 w/ no governor off a CList find. It does have a 'sluggish' acceleration(especially low-end)... so figured it would be more suited for this kart(guessing something else has been done to it other than the governor removed... but dont wanna open it up until I HAVE to). She'll be pushing 6:1 on 10's... thats bout 'her' level of driving speed.

She's chosen 'Plum purple' as the main color w/ black accents(gonna have her paint it after I get it running)getting clutch tomorrow and working on the rear(did the front today...

Looking forward to seeing your progress on this one. I really dig your other kart (the manco).

Ahh... so it's a "her". Very nice, any rod built by your own two hands should indeed be referred to as a her. Lo-T sure is a hot little rod.

I hear ya' on the frames. I had a few beers last night, and when I woke up this morning, I remembered that I had pretty much committed to buy two complete karts from craigslist. I have already been slowly accumulating parts for another kart build, but may switch gears on that and do a barstool style racer.

I already have WAAAY too many toys, and nowhere to put them.

My name is Chris, and I'm an addict.

Plum paint looks sweet, by the way. Your daughter is going to be proud as can be rolling around in her own custom kart. Good job dad.

I'm a little confused, was the first part shot before or after yesterdays escapade?

The whole vid is 'after'. Im 'guessing' from what did/didnt happen... it's probable that the smoke(burning oil) from the motor was due to the excessive RPM's and burning the oil off instead of 'lubricating' it(fresh oil probably is what saved it!) and the fact that starting it again the next day produced no longterm smoke, just an initial 3-4 secs as it started, 'proves' to me that no 'major' damage was sustained.

I WILL be changing the oil before reinstalling it back on the kart(it's black)! And when I save up, Ill get another HF212 for it/her(for the time being, Im on a deadline to have this kart complete by Christmas morning). After I get the clone is when Ill open the case up and see what I can see and what 'all' I got.

The 'way' the motor GX200 accelerates I'm tending to lean towards the guess that it probably has a cam in it...cause it takes it quite awhile to reach 'top' RPM's(less torque) compared to Lo-T's HF212. It takes about twice the distance to reach topout, but will 'keep up' w/ Lo-T(mathematically Lo-T should pull away from her, and actually 'may', just havent had a long enough straight run... yet... but theres too many variables to measure like weight, drag, friction/traction, blahblahblah). Also it backfire's when I release the throttle, so Im also thinking it's got a different sized jet(either altered or replaced larger). If these guesses are true(if I have a stage 2 upgrade), it only stands to reason that I need to get stage 1 to make the motor 'officially' race worthy... just dont have a 'race' kart. It 'is' true I have the resources and ability to 'make' a race frame... and it would more than likely be just as 'visually/structurally' appealing as any factory made frame, if not better... and I 'do' still have another frame w/ 'potential' racing worthiness... but the question is 'would' I actually drive it(Im tending to think 'not')? Im not a 'speed' freak by no means! The 22-25mph I travel now is more than enough for me(lowend racer/drifter). Yea I 'could' make it and 'sell' it for a guaranteed profit.... but I probably wouldnt have as much 'heart' into it as I do w/ Lo-T or this one.

...que cera, cera...

I've never told the story of the name Lo-T... here's the 'short n sweet' version...
It's a lil known fact... there are no "r" in the Japanese vocabulary(hence an "L" is pronounced in it's place). When I started her build I was amidst a 'quarrel' w/ my spouse(1 of 'many'). As I engorged myself into the build... the less and less I felt a need to endure my spouses oblivious forked tongue(cant trust her any further than I can throw her). I consistently thought that I would walkin one day and see her rotting carcass awaiting my return from being in the shed, building the kart(I didnt want to be round the wife, for 'fear' that Id believe another misleading tale from her deceiving mouth). After a month or 2, the name "Rot", came to mind. The wife knowing the way I think would instantly know that name referred to my feeling towards her... so I had to 'disguise' it... hence the name 'Rot' turned to "Lo-T"... she thinks it refers to My name starting w/ "T" and the kart sits low...lol.

TYty... her 1st choice was lavender... then royal blue... then metallic blue... then metallic burgundy (notice the paint $ choices raising?!)... then finally she settled for Plum. So I chose black as the accent color... 'should' look sporty n of an 'older' era than some of those 'other' colors.

lol... then let fate roll its die... but she dont do the 'forum' thing and wouldnt know anything bout this site other than I get help off here. Besides... she already knows my thoughts of her and she now realizes she made her own bed... n has to lay in it! So its no big deal if she reads the forum... not like Im lying to her... just letting her think whatever she wants... just like she did me(I wont go into 'that' part of the story... but lets just say I went to Afghanistan and found out something I wasnt 'suppose' to find out bout her 'extracurricular activities'... and shes not a student...sigh.
