I want to get this kart working for my grandchildren.

You said grandchildren, plural. You're going to need another kart (or more) for each one, and then one for yourself dear sir. 🤑 You could always go "bargain" and make the additional kart(s) a two-seater but where's the fun in that? 😜

[EDIT] what are the age ranges of your grandchildren?

I can have the case TIG welded, but the repair is well done and functional as a support and has done so for some time. The photo probably doesn't show that. I don't think it's the reason the kart was abandoned.
However I have not found anything else obviously wrong; it may be that it has worn rings and cylinders with no compression.
Thanks for the reference to the Dazon website, I am in Australia and the cost of freight is often prohibitive.
I have 4 grandchildren 20 18 7 & 5. Its mainly for the young ones when they are a little older. This Kart was going to be scrapped along with some old car bodies and junk. I though it would be good to rescue it but I don't want to spend more on it than the cost of a decent one.
I need some local expertise/parts.

The broken rear support occurred because it was not attached to the substantial rear support lug. It was attached to a much weaker place. I will weld a bracket to the support frame over correct lug and relocate the rear hanger. Why the support frame was made with a support bracket in the wrong place is a mystery.

Progress reports: I have the engine running and it sounds fine.
As I first advised, this cart was left in the open for some years because of an engine problem. I bought it expecting something serious but the only fault was a totally blocked main jet in the carburetor. The blockage was rock hard and had to be shifted with wire then carb cleaner then compressed air. After a thorough clean of everything in the carb it started. Everything else is working fine and total cost to date has been 1 litre of oil for the engine after draining out the old sludge.
Next job is to free up the seized hydraulics to get the brakes working. After that I will sand and wire brush off the worst of the rust, treat whats left and paint it.
I haven't told the grandkids about it yet , I need to be sure it will be OK but its looking promising.

I got the brakes working after freeing up the calipers and fitting a new master cylinder. The engine is blowing a little smoke but it runs quite well. not bad considering the kart was being scrapped. The grandkids will love it. I fitted a new badge on the front to make it go faster.

You’re my hero, Davidm, for all the fine work you’ve done on this little buggy and all for a great cause. You should pat yourself on the back but I think you’ve definitely done your homework in the past. I mean this isn’t your first rodeo refurbishing dead motors?

Looks good except that badge will slow it down. It needs a Corvette one to go faster.
