Hey Ironman... Watched the video a few times, and it looks like that small "pulse line" from the bottom of the crankcase is hooked up. That big screw with the twist-handle (left side of carb) should be your high-speed mixture, and that plastic-looking screw ahead of it should be your low-speed mixture. It's too bad there's no model # on that carb to look it up with.

russ what do you mean by that .are you saying it needs a lot of air flow to keep it running right.

No doubt about it. It's there for a reason. Much more important than shielding on your Briggs cylinder fins (remember?).
In all 2 cycles proper cooling is paramount. If engine overheats, Piston/Cylinder seizure is guaranteed.
Keep in mind that that this is basically a winter engine which in itself is not a problem.
To eliminate ductwork (and fan) would be like a game of Russian Roulette....only there would 5 bullets, not just one!!!

I'm thinking that since it was an UltraLight motor, the intent was to rely on the propwash to keep the motor cool. Like Russ says... a gamble. Some motors are designed to rely on motion to keep them cool, but they usually have enormous finnage.... like an old dirtbike motor, for instance.

Hope you get it Ironman. trust me, every time Chaparral snowmobile motor stuff comes up, I'm going to shoot it your way.

Any new info?

Did you get the shrouds with the motors? If you didn't, don't run 'em much til you do. You'll lock it up for sure. This is a "fan-cooled" motor. There is a fan driven from a belt off the crank that blows air through the shroud. Plus, the normal ambient temp. these motors are designed to run in is about 30 degrees F. Run your air-fuel mix a little rich to be safe.

As for your fuel issue, it is a pressurized system. Add a primer bulb in your fuel line (like on an outboard boat) and give 'er a few pumps. That should work.

By the way, the air shrouds are all aluminium with "Chaparral" cast into the coil cover. All polished up your motor would look sweet!

Are you going to use these pullies? If not, I'd be interested in 'em.

Are the pulleys and belts CVT? So the lowere one is kinda like a jackshaft it's not really connected to the engine. if so, thATS cool.
