Ironman..... think of watching world cup soccer on tv....
SCOOOOOOOOOORRRREEE! SCOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooorrre!
For what it's worth, a lot of the DIY airplane motors are Rotax.... maybe that might be a place to start?

yea and that the engines came with spares including 'pull ropes' suggests probably not plane engines.

i have Never heard of or seen a plane that is started with a pull rope. if they were to small for electric start they were usually crank started by spinning the prop correct?

also by bi-plane. to what does the bi refer to. twin engine? or twin cyl?

alright i wiki'd it! it actually refers to the double winged planes!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biplane

theres also this which might be of interest to iron man!
The vast majority of biplane designs have been fitted with reciprocating engines of comparatively low power; exceptions include the Antonov An-3 and WSK-Mielec M-15 Belphegor, fitted with turboprop and turbofan engines, respectively. Some older biplane designs, such as the Grumman Ag Cat and the aforementioned An-2 (in the form of the An-3) are available in upgraded versions with turboprop engines.

Then I also see the problem of how they'll fit on the frame... and then where you're going to put that gimongous gas tank... :D

I focus on the best parts, don't I? :p

yes i can not believe it but i have join the dark side with russ and kibble.

dont forget meh aswell, I love 2 strokes far more than 4s

Right now I'm working on mounting a 750cc 2 cylinder jet ski engine to my kart.:roflol:

whoa.... just looked at the pics...Those are some very...very nice engines you have there.
They look a lot like snowmobile engines. You could probably get a snowmobile drive off of ebay and put it on there and it should work with not much modification

AAAH!! Im still in shock over how you got all those beautiful engines for just $100!!!

There worth like at least 700 each because theyre in great condition

i know was a old man he had them in his garage and said he had no need for them due to a heart attack he had.so he seen i like karts and said 100.00 its all yours.:wai:
what i meant by bi-plane is these motors were on the little one man planes or power gliders that you run and take off.
the old man said he bought them from a lady that was going threw a breakup and said alll his stuff must go.
thats all i know.

....either way, you're looking at 35-40hp to do your bidding! The few Chaparral engines I was able to find specs on were all rated "x" hp @ 5800 rpm, which means you've got an easy, dependable 6000 rpm at your disposal. Now, it's no problem to run a 3:1 ratio with a Comet Tq converter. (72mph with 12" wheels.)
